“All in all a great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

The hotel was superb exept for no variation in the breakfast menu. The Family that run the hotel were very friendly and nothing was to much bother. The maid cleaned the room every day.Bathroom was quite small though.
If anyone has walking problems then the walk to the beech/tavernas is a long trek!!!!
Only real thing that spoilt the stay was the use of mobile phones by the pool and on balconies.Do we all need to know the ins and outs of peoples lives? We are all on holiday!!!!The management should ban them in certain areas.

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

Just returned from a 14 night stay at The Castro Hotel. If you are looking for good clean very cheap and friendly accom look no further, this small family run hotel is spot less rooms are a good size air conditioned and with the added bonus of a fridge with a decent size balcony with lovely views of the garden and sea.Breakfast is all you need nice and fresh and varied often with fresh produce from The Castro garden. The family are always on hand to offer help and advice their grounds are a complete credit to them and the pool area is perfect probably one of the cleanest pools we have come across

The hotel is a little further out than we expected but this reflects in the price,a 15 min walk will get you to the beach front and when you return to the hotel you appreciate the peace and quiet it has to offer. Car hire is so easy and cheap would highly recommend

“Best value hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010

Castro location is good: nice views, short walk to services, bus route next to it. Swimming pool and cozy rooms with balcony are just great for the price. Also Wifi working in rooms. Breakfast is ok. Very friendly family! 2 times been there.

“A clean, friendly and well kept hotel on the outskirts of Kamari at a reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

The hotel Castro is run by a very friendly Greek family. Almost always you can find some of the family members sitting in front of the hotel and chatting with their grandma. One of the daughters takes care of a wonderful tropical garden which provided fresh figs and grapes for the breakfasts. The rooms are very well kept and almost new. They have a large pool with several sunbeds and parasols. You can use A/C and fast wireless internet for free. They also provide a decent parking area.

The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk up-hills from Kamari beach very close to the open-air cinema. The breakfast are basic but decent enough: fresh bread, cheese, butter, jam, Greek yoghurt, some not home-made sweets, hot water, hotel-type coffee and fake juices. On some days you could get fresh fruit from their tropical garden.

The other daughter was a little bit too keen on using all available booking.com services. I was rather annoyed when my credit card was pre-authorised a week before my staying there. She also messed up some of the possibilities and booking.com informed me that I made a no-show on my second day of my stay at the hotel.

“Great value but....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

Great place to stay for a day or two, especially if you want to be near the airport. Has a really nice pool, clean and reasonably big rooms and the whole place looks and feels nice. 15 minute walk to the 'main drag' where there are some nice(ish) restaurants, bars etc and a beach of black sand.
Very good value for Santorini, but it is on the wrong side for the Caldera. Breakfast is VERY basic (bread, yoghurt and cake). Our pick-up for the airport was 25 minutes late and they charged 15 euros when a taxi would have charged no more than 10.
We had to change our booking at short notice and they were very good about that.
