“Perfect Romantic Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We had a fantastic stay here, the staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming! Our room was huge and overlooked the pool and sea. We loved the simple design of the rooms, which were comfortable and cool due to good air con. Rooms were cleaned everyday. On our arrival we had a bottle of local wine and fruit in our room. The breakfasts were simple, fresh and very enjoyable. Greek yogurt, fruit and honey did just the job!

All round fantastic trip we loved every minute. Recommend Mistral Tavern one road back from the seafront. Family run and has outside seating amongst pistachio trees, definitely try the Fried Tomato Balls. Oia is also a must, try and find the cafe 39 steps, opposite a big church dome as you walk down towards the steps to Almoudi Bay. Once down at the bay, which is beautiful turn left and walk round the track/path to an area where you can swim and snorkle, it was a definite highlight for us. You can swim out to an island about 20metres away and climb up to a ledge and jump off if you are brave enough or just go and see the little church there. We got to Oia by local bus, they are great and very resonable. From Kamari you get the bus to Fira and from there you can pretty much go anyway on the island.

Another highligh was Pygros, go to the centre which is just a roundabout really and head up towards the church and castle. We went up there to catch the sunset and found a brilliant little cafe called 'Penelope's' . Very quite place and not very touristy, visited here when we hired a car for the day. On our last night we went to the Pantheon Restaurant which overlooks the caldera, which is truly stunning and had a fantastic meal. This was organised by Kamari Tours and was 30 euros per person including transfer to the venue. Atlantis local wine was lovely!!

All in all a wonderful holiday and one to remember for sure!!!

“Wonderful holiday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

Santorini Reflexions sea is a small two-storey family hotel, located next to the beach. There are a lot of bars and taverns around the hotel. There were fairly high prices in the taverns and bars:( But food was always excellent.

We had a big room with a beautiful view of the sea. The room was clean. We got a bottle of wine and water and some fruits at the beginning of our stay.

The breakfast was very modest - ham, cheese, honey, jam, butter, bread, yogurt, and some fruit. But it was always fresh and it was very good.

The staff in the hotel was very friendly.

The hotel swimming pool was very very small,...but there were nobody very often, so we were there alone in the swimming pool:)

It was very good vacation, Santorini is beautiful (not only Kamari, but whole the island). I recommend it! :)

“we won't be back too soon...like in Never...!”

When I decided for the Reflexions Sea Hotel, Kamari, Santorini vacation over some other locations, it was a difficult choice, but I was sure that it will be an unforgettable trip. And so it was. Only not as one would expect....
First: Upon arriving, you have to be prepared for dragging your suitcase for a couple of hundreds of meters on a very irregular pavement, as the bus or taxi will not leave you in front of the hotel. Actually, it's not what I would call a hotel, and for sure not the 4/3* level, as it is presented in the agencies' offers.
It's just a bunch of rooms, spread over an area, with ground level and "1st level", if you are lucky to know that there is such level. We were given a room in the back side of the area, with a small courtyard (6-8 sq m) in the back. the room was very dark, as it had just one window and the door to the backyard, with dark wooden shades, the "cyclades islands" style, as I have been told. Furniture quite old, no friendly look, actually quite "monastery like", moisture in the bathroom, sorry, what bathroom, just a shower head,a toilet and a water sink, with the window of the bathroom seeing the interior courtyard, so it couldn't stay open.
I will spare you the so many other "details", like the swimming "pool" that had max 10 sq m (more of a duck pond....), or the breakfast that had as a menu 2 types of ham, 1 type of processed cheese, butter, hard boiled eggs and fruit ( and this, for as many days until you get really fed up and stop eating....good for the diet, though :D ).
The major issue, and take my warning seriously, was the lack of security. We got robbed the 3 rd night, WHILE SLEEPING ! We didn't lock the door to the courtyard, we left it just 2 cm open, looking for some fresh air, as the air conditioning was exactly above the bed, and was making us ill. The burglars entered through the backyard, in the room, stole our money, purses, mobile phones, photo cameras, credit cards, everything...and, may I repeat, while we were in the room, sleeping....We didn't hear, didn't feel, nothing. Called the cops, showed them the footprints on the white paint of the terasse, and what did they do? One of them stepped with his big shoes exactly on the footprints, and when another guy came later that day he said there are no decent prints there, and we need to go in the evening, to a different town, to the police HQ, to make a complaint ( I don't know if cop or not, he didn't have a uniform, the hotel manager just told us he was from the police)!!!!! We have been told, by the locals, that the latest burglary MO is to spray some light sleeping gas, and this how they do their stuff in peace.
The only compensation the hotel gave us was to change the room, and upgrade it to an apart, and free drinks and food for that day, until we received some money from home. That was all. I didn't want to completely ruin the rest of vacation, so I didn't argue with that lady from the reception, but they should be sued, for sure.
So, no complaints about Santorini, great and unique site, but beware of Kamari, check if any other reports of such incidents, lock yourself in the rooms, and vacation may be even a vacation.
And just ask me if you want to know more...I am still shocked after what happened. I wanted to share this so ppl are aware of what may happen, in that area.

take care !
