“Couldn't fault it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2009

My best friend and I have just returned back from a great holiday in Santorini. We arrived at the Estia around 21.30, where we were met by gabbi who showed us to our room which we couldn't fault as we recieved a studio with a kitchenette, unfortunatly we had a double bed instead of twin as requested through tour operator but wasn't a problem as we've known each other for years.
Gabbi informed us we had no airconditioning, but he would sort it in the morning, which he did with no problems and we also recieved our safety deposit key, with no extra charges.
The hotel's location was perfect it was away from the busy front but only a couple of minutes stroll to the beach, bus stop and shops. (no problem with aircraft noise)
The pool was always clean, sunbeds were a little rundown but apart from that lovely and quiet.
Overall we had a great stay at the hotel and couldnt fault it The staff we're all extremely helpful; especially on our last day when our flight didnt depart until 21.45, we were allowed to leave our luggage and get a quick shower before our transfer at 19.00.

“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2009

Small cozy hotell in a calm environment!
Breakfast: A pleasant surprise! We had read on this sait that they only served white bread, marmelade and tea. True about the bread, marmalade and tea but there were a lot more: cucumber, tomatos, black olives, cheese, ham, youghurt, cornflakes. Still a simple breakfast but enough for me and my whife.
Beds: Hard/firm as almost anywhere except on the most expensive hotells
Pool: Nice pool area! Few of our fellow hotell guest used it. We loved it! There is a road between the hotell and the pool area but very little trafic. It seems common in the Kamari area to have your buisiness on two sides of the road.
Staff: A guy from Rumania, Gabi, was helping us. Very helpful and kind. English speaking skills could be better, but we had now problems understanding eachother.
We had a studio with a fridge and some possiblities to cook your own food

Santorini is great! Kamari a good start for you holliday. Distance are short anywhere you whant to go. There are a lot of nice restaurants in Kamari, but you can take the bus (15 minutes) to Fira and have your dinner there!

“Lovely location shame there were no English people”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2009

The hotel and the people running it were lovely .
The breakfast was the same every day but there was a good selection of fruit, cereals, meats , eggs, fruit juice, coffee bread, yoghurt , honey etc.',
One big problem in the two weeks I spent there only 2 English girls for one week all the rest were from all over the world except Britain!
I would not recommend this hotel to any British unless they can speak Danish, Dutch, Polish, italian,Finnish, Swedish...... got my point otherwise OK.
The Island is a beautiful place loads to see and the tavernas on the beach front are so numerous as to be mind boggling.

“Basic but adequate as a base”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2009

We stayed here for 7 nights at the end of June during the heatwave - thank god they had air conditioning - we had to pay extra to have it on but it would have been impossible to sleep without it. The staff are very friendly. The room we had was at the front of the hotel on the floor and wewe didn't have to enter the hotel to get to it - it was very clean but very basic but perfectly adequate as a base to go travelling round the island of Santorini. The pool was nice but we found it too quiet and preferred the beach in the day and sat by the pool late afternoon. We usually opted to buy breakfast from a local shop as the food was not great - bread and jam every day!. Nice but basic hotel but great if you are on a budget and are just looking for somewhere to sleep etc.

“Not a 3 * Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2008

Stayed at the Estia Hotel for the last week in August 08 following a 2 week island hop (Paros, Naxos Santorini). I have travelled extensively in Greece and I can honestly say this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. We were allocated a room next to the main Reception which meant the noise at all times of day made our stay unpleasant. The hotel owner had a young child who she had to look after whilst serving 'breakfast' and dealing with enquiries. The noise level was unacceptable: the child could often be heard crying and when she wasn't it was the telephone ringing and noise of guests passing our door. 'Breakfast' was bread and jam every day (often served by the child!) We only took one look and gave it a miss for the rest of the holiday. It was more like staying in an old-fashioned Guest House than a hotel. Towels and bedding were not changed at all during our stay - and it is best not to look under the bed - you never know what you might find!
