“Not a bad place at all!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

What is there to say? This is your "standard" one or two star canarian accommodation. When my wife and I went, it was January, so a little windy and not as hot as in the summer, although with the three and a half days sun we did get, came back with cracking tans! The maids were invisible. That is not to say they didn't come, they did, but we never saw them. The place is clean, tidy and quiet, at least when we were there. No noisy groups coming in at three in the morning and slamming doors. We didn't use the large pool on account of it being rather too cold and because of the trees dumping lots of foliage into it because of the wind. We stopped in room 307. It got the afternoon sun from one to five. But be warned. As mention there are a lot of trees. One tree was in front of our balcony( literally covering over half of it, it towered eight feet or more and took up twelve feet of the twenty foot balcony.) it wasn't a problem for us as it placed a wall of green between our " private " balcony and the public pool area ;-) the only other thing to mention is that there is no kettle. You can hire one, or just use the pan to boil water for your coffee. There is a buffet resturant on site, but we didn't use it so couldn't comment on the quality. There didn't seem to be anywhere to buy drinks either..maybe because it wasn't high season. There is a supermarket downstairs and stoners Irish bar is two minutes walk away and do good grub, decent ale and have wifi. Reception staff were pleasant and spoke perfect English, far better than my school boy Spanish. Our flight was at 1900 if you let them know at least one day in advance for fifteen euro you can keep the room till five instead of the usual twelve.....would I go back? Yes, although I've had my fill of the resort. There isn't a huge amount to do. We had a car so could go off, it the main resort is a five euro cab fare or a good half hour walk away.

Room Tip: 305-314 offer the best afternoon sun and privacy.

“Very Cheap. You get what you pay for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We stayed here in January 2012 after staying at another local hotel. I wasnt expecting much for the price we paid. We got a one bedroomed apartment instead of a studio and it was on the ground floor which lead out onto the pool area. The pool area was nice and When we arrived at the room there was a very strong smell of chemicals which I later discovered was whatever they wash the floors with. Iknew about the kettle and toaster hire before we arrived and its virtually impossible to make a meal here. No oven. The fridge was very cold and freezing all our food so I turned it down a bit and it defrosted all over the floor. We decided to pay for dinner at the hotel one night and it was very poor quality.I felt sorry for the handful of guests who were all - inclusive. Its alright for a cheap bed for the night and you can sunbathe by the pool. But thats it. Eat out. Travel by Taxi for entertainment and be prepared not to sleep too well. The walls are paper thin. We could hear snoring all night and even text messages in adjoining rooms. It was clean enough if a bit dated and quite spacious. The TV situation needs to be improved with at least 1 English channel as there were mostly English and Irish guests when we were there. Dont go for a special occasion or expecting something great for this kind of money but for a few days of cheap winter sun -great

“Castillo de Elba, Hotel”

Staff were friendly enough. Hotel room was adequate, we were on the ground floor close to the pool. Food quality wasn't very good, either at breakfast or dinner buffet which we tried twice. Trouble with this hotel is the location. We were in the middle of a mixture of wasteland and empty apartment complexes. About a 40 minute walk to the town shops and not a safe walk at night, at least i didn't fancy it!! Walk to the nearest sunbathing beach was longer. There's a nice walk along the coastline close to the hotel (not suitable for sunbathing or swimming though) and running trails towards the airport which were enjoyable. They have a free bus to bring you into town which we utilised (finishes about 8.30 or so in the evening). Wi fi had to be paid for daily and as far as I know so did parking.

“Like me - getting old!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We went for my 60th. Birthday and really had a great time. For the price we paid the Apartohotel was excellent value and ideally located.( It's about a 3 mile walk into "main town" along the coast ,past the cute "chipmunks", a Euro1.35 bus trip or Euro 4 taxi )
The hotel was clean enough - issues with room cleaning with sheets only being changed once in 2 weeks, infrequent towel changes - and the staff friendly. The "fixtures and fittings" looked past their sell by dates and it seemed a shame that for the sake of a few Euros per room it could be a top class hotel.
For a self-catering holiday I was surprised to be asked to rent a kettle and toaster (8 Euro each per week). We got round this by boiling water in pan and "reclaiming" a BBQ grill from a nearby dump - you may want to buy one from Poundland and leave for next client!
The Bar, Dining facillities and Supermarket were all reasonable but food/drinks etc could all be purchased nearby much cheaper.
There was a regular free bus service to the local shopping centre - Atlantico - but we tended to walk there. (only redeeming feature being a 10 Pin Bowling Alley and a big Spar Supermarket)
Having read previous reviews we were a little wary of going to the hotel and I can certainly see where those who have written less than favourable reviews were coming from. Again, for the price, we thought it was good value and let us have the "2 week chill" we wanted. - Would we go back? - probably not.

Room Tip: Room 311 - "sunniest in hotel" - a corner room that overlooks pool and good views over the...

“Worst all inclusive ever”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Food was awful and always cold, no entertainment. Was the 1st all inclusive Ive had where Ive lost weight on holiday. Was put on sports side of hotel and had to request a move as so far from pool. Had to take my son out for food in the end as both were continuously hungry. Loved the island but would never stay at this hotel again.
