Factual Information

7 nights at the Villas VIP in caleta de fuste -Fuerteventura.

Our website described these as -luxurious villas- for the more discerning family seeking a perfect holiday. All Villas feature- dishwasher-washingmachine, fridge freezer/over and toaster.
I have various complaints to lodge- which I will list from bad to unacceptable below.
1. there were ants all over the accommodation.
2. There was no llight in the hot tub(which meant you could not use after dark)
3. The pool table downstairs- couldnt be used as the pool cues- did not have tips on them, making then unusable.
4. The dishwasher did not work- when I pressed the button in - my finger went through it.
5. The washing machine did not work- and even if it did you would not put your clothes in it.(see photo)
6.No hot water one day from 10pm until 1pm the following day.
7.The laundry/cleaning area for the complex was next door and the cleaning van - arrived and parked outside our villa every morning at 5am- which woke us up every day.(see photo)
The apartments used a van outside our villa for the rubbish -( see photo)
8.The street light outside had a fault and flashed on/off all night - which was outside our bedroom window
However in a more serious note...
9.Our "villa" was broken into- and our property stolen-.. My daughter was terrified for the rest of our holiday in the villa. We spent time and effort speaking to the local police, the "villa" manager, and having to take time and effort phoning police stations and then having to visit them within our holiday.
10. The biggest complaint we have is that we arrived at the reception 14feb- were given the keys to our villa(eventually , there was a problem with the keys). We proceeded to the villa. From the outside the villa has a swimming pool and a hot tub- and a courtyard where the outside furniture sat. The doors from the porperty all faced onto this area. All doors had one key and could only be locked from inside/outside with this key-ie you had to lock yourself in, or out. When entering the living room , we noticed that there was no access to any other rooms in the villa. The same with the bathroom, games room and the bedrooms. Basically, all rooms had to be entered from the outside courtyard area. Which meant that my children could not stay in a bedroom of there own. Myself and my husband were not happy with using the toilet in the evening-you had to come out into the main outside area- then go to the room of your choice.
This is the most ludicrous set up i have ever seen. For Health and safety- I would need to lock my children in a bedroom at night and either give them the key (ages5,10) or take the key into my room and lock myself and my husband in as well. If there was a fire - how would i get my children out- how would i know if anyone had broken into the room and abducted them. There are so many horror stories that could go along with this...
I contacted the reception and they offered to move me to a 2 bed apt in club costa dorada complex. I looked at the apt and declined- it was small and smelly. I asked for another alternative and was advised there was none. I then asked to speak to the manager-who did come out to the villa.
Roberto's (the manager) suggestion was to sleep in a 2 bed apartment and use the villa facilities during the day. At that time we had no other options. We tried this for 1 night and then decided it was most inconvenient. We decided to put the 2 mattresses from the kids bedroom onto the floor in our room. So in all we had 1 bedroom for 5.
As you can imagine this is not what we booked, and not at all happy with accepting. But the only alternative was to accept a 2 bed apt, which we did not want./book. We decided to stay in the "villa".

I would however like to state that the manager was amazing - everything that he could fix - he did- he offered alternative accommodation. He gave us a few days all inclusive to help make it seem easier, he paid for our taxis to the police station- he gave us a bottle of wine- and everything that we complained about (except the villa situation and the break in) he sorted- so hands up to the manager.

The complex around the pool area is great - the apartments that we were offered - were very low standard - but clean....

“very very tired!”

This is the 3rd time we have stayed in these villas. The last time was 2008 and boy have they deteriated. On arrival the pool was absoultely filthy and freezing, we reported this the next day and the pool guy promtly came round cleaned it and turned the heating on but it took about 3 days to warm up enough to be able to get into it.. Sadly it dosent get much better inside i'm afraid. There are broken tiles everywhere. The jacuzzi bath in the basement stank of stagnent water and the grouting and tiles where disgusting. Overall the villa was pretty clean everywhere else but just very very tired. Its such a shame as i remember the first time i visited them and my first words where WOW when i opened the front door. Would only go back if they where renovated.

“Nicely suprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2010

Just returned from Caleta De Fuste where we stayed in the 3 bedroom VIP Villa (20/10/2010-27/10/2010)
The weather was great, the resort was lovely it had enough restaurants and bars for a bit of choice ( recomend La Piella on the sea front, lovely food great service but not overly cheap) The villa was clean big and comfortable. The pool was cleaned every other day,it was a bit cold but did`nt stop us all getting in.
When you get to the sea front turn left and keep walking till you go past the fish restaurant, beach cafe and a bit of a sandy dirt track, there are some lovely beaches here and a beautiful restaurant situated along a brigde over looking the sea, also at the end of
the walkway is a shopping center.
We all enjoyed our stay and it was great for our 17month old baby.

“Great Villa - great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2008

Just returned from Costa Caleta after a weeks holiday. We were a party
of 5 - myself 45, hubby 49, brother 41 and our 2 children aged 20 &
23. VIP villas are very well equipped with full kitchen including washing
machine, dishwasher, full oven, microwave. In fact they had eveything
you needed and all the cutlery, pots etc were all very new. We had 3
bedrooms, large bathroom with 2 sinks and a large wet room type shower,
which was very powerful. The water was always hot, even for the 5th
person into the shower. There is also a jacuzzi downstairs and an extra
toilet. The games room is also down here with a pool table, fridge
and extra sofa beds. The villas are a short 5 - 10 minute walk into the
resort. When checking in you have to go to the reception of the Caleta
Dorada bungalows which are beside the villas and then walk the 2-3
minutes to your villa. We had maid service 5 out of 7 days and they do a
really good job. There is also a pool man who cleans your pool every
morning. The resort of Costa Caleta was very quiet at this time so we had
plenty of choice of restaurants and bars which were never packed. For
breakfast and lunches we catered for ourselves. On arrival day we went
to the big Eurospar at the Atlantico centre near the golf course. Its
a lovely walk up to it past all the new big hotels and we spent 180
euro for the 5 of us, all adults by the way - which gave us cereals and
toast etc for breakfasts and usually salads, meat, rolls and maybe fruit
for lunch. It also included a case of beer, case of guinness, bottle
of vodka, 3 bottles of wine and lots of soft drinks and big 5litres of
water. There are taxis right outside which take you back to the villas
for 3 euro. Ate out at one of the restaurants in the Atlantico
centre - the Revolution, Had garlic bread to start, which was sooo strong
that we didnt have to worry about mosquitos for the rest of the week.
We had sirloin steaks with chips and beautiful pepper sauce. It was
quite nice and very reasonable - 9.5 euros each. We also ate at Nestors,
which was nice but not to everyones taste as you get rice with raisins,
peppers, cauliflower and brocolli in bechamel sauce as your
accompaniments to your meal. The sirloin steak was just ok but the whole meal was
luke warm. I enjoyed it anyway but the children - didn,t. We also
ate at Tommy Nutters twice, the first night. We had garlic cheese
bread and nachos with melted cheese for starters. 4 of us had sirloin
steaks and my daughter had barbeque ribs. The steaks were tough as boots
- you had to saw at them and chew hard!! My daughters ribs were
beautiful - they just fell off the bone!! The rest of the meal was great, so
we didnt let the steak put us off. In fact we pre ordered ribs for all
of us for the next night - you get a whole rack of ribs each!! The
come served with salad and hugh home made wedgies. It was fantastic!!!!.
The service is friendly and quick and you even get a free bottle of
house wine, which was very nice. We also ate twice at The Great Wall
chinese restaurant, which we really like. The service is excellent, meals
cooked fresh as you order, everything is really light and delicious. We
had various starters such as prawn toast, ribs, spring rolls. All
were tasty and they also bring you free prawn crackers. Main courses were
all good tried chicken chow mein, beef curry, pork char su, beef in
black bean sauce, chicken and mushrooms. Everything was lovely - all 5
of us really enjoyed it - the only thing is the drinks are quite
expensive - 3.5 euro for a beer. The meals were mostly about 4.5 euro each.
We went to a bar called Legends to watch Man Utd beat Wigan as we had
heard that the owner Ken was a Man Utd supporter. The atmosphere was
great but the Guinness went down too easy!!!!!!! 3 hrs later and 180
euros poorer - we staggered home (that was all on Guinness at 4.5 euro per
pint!!!!!!!!!) They have entertainment on most nights, which seemed
really good. We had cocktails one night at the Blues Bar, which were
gorgeous and they have a brilliant selection all at 5.5 euros each. Overall
all we had a great holiday and would recommend these villas and the
resort to families. There is plenty of entertainment in the local bars
if you want it - on the other hand its quiet enough if you just want to
sit and people watch, or go for a nice strolll. It was about our 12th
visit to Fuerteventura.
