“vip villas 2 bedroom”

We are just back from a weeks stay in these villas and I must say we had a great time. The villa we stayed in was No 4 and we found this to be ideal for our needs. The only down side was that the bedrooms were situated on the outside of the building and there was a key for each room, I found this to be a very strange set up and at first was a bit unnerving if u have kids. The solution to this was my older 14 yr old slept in one of the bedrooms and we took a mattress into our room for our younger 8yr old which felt alot safer. I was worried if the toilet( u have to unlock ur bedroom door go outside and unlock the toilet to use) was every needed during the night that the younger one would wander if in a room of there own. The weather when we were there was fab, plenty to do for kids young and old. You can also use the resorts hotel facilities (we didn't). A great day out was the Oasis Zoo, but be warned it's an hours bus ride and was roasting when we got there and there is alot of walking to be done to get round the zoo, we got the 9am bus and did not get back to the villa till 6.45pm a VERY long day, but it was very enjoyable. The villas did have planes flying over them everyday but after a couple of days u just seem to get used to it. We would defo go back but I think we would book a 3 bedroom villa as these seem to have the bedrooms enclosed so seem safer for younger children.

“Excellent for the money and in a good location”

We stayed at these villas in July 2011. We booked through Solmar and stayed in Villa VIP Rosario 2.

The villa is clean and spacious and the pool is a good size. They are located on the edge of a hotel complex and you are able to use the facilities/reception etc if needed. The maids came in every day to mop and clean but they never disturbed us and as we went in the peak season I thought this was good as I didnt want any little creepy crawlies finding there way in!

Yes the villa is on a flight path , and yes you can hear them, but the first plane didnt come over till about 8.30 am and I didnt see one after about 7pm at night. We laid by the pool most days and after the second day you just dont seem to notice them. It didnt wake us up or stop us from sleeping., and they are still quiet high so its not as if the noise is deafening.. i would say no different to living on a main road only the traffic isnt constant.

The two bedrooms are of a good size one with a double and one twin, the bathroom was spacious and clean.. no bath but a huge shower. Downstairs there was a games room with a pool table and jacuzzi bath. Kitchen had all the utensills you would need and a washing maching and dishwasher should you need it.

It is a 10/15 min walk downhill (depending on how fast you walk.. I've only got little legs!!) down to the main shopping area, where there are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants.
If you are looking to do a main grocery shop I would head down to the bigger supermarket.... as you come out the villa and head into town... at the second roundabout go right instead of straight... this is about a 20 minute walk but worth it as the shop is much cheaper,. then theres taxis outside to bring you back which is about 3 Euro.

I would recommend LIns cafe in the town for meals.. very cheap and very good value. For an evening meal I would try the restaurant further up the hill from the villa. Walk up towards reception and then carry on up the hill, past the shop which is half way up and located in the middle of the square and then behind there is a restaurant on the ground floor which is amazing and then a bar upstairs which is really nice and chilled and good music etc.

This is the 3rd holiday we have booked a villa and I am no expert but for the price I paid and what I got I was very happy. I would deffinatley go back. We like villas due to the privacy it gives, ... no racing for the sunbeds, your own pool etc and this is what you get here.... if you are looking for a big posh mansion villa like you see on the telly.. then look elsewhere and also pay the price that comes with it!

“Don't be put off - Lovely villa's great pool area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

Had stayed in Apts here b4 and facilities for kids so good wanted to return to stay in villas. Never normally go anywhere more then once but so much choice wanted to return cos loved the look of the villas. Booked with Alpha rooms everything went perfectly to plan but no need to prebook transfer as less then 15€ in taxi but was nice to have them waiting on us on arrival and departure anyhow.
The villas are a really good size and have everything you cud want barr air con, There was a fan in the wardrobes of each bedroom & you can rent more for 15€ per wk from reception plus 20 deposit. Having read reports I was hesitant about returning but emailed the manager for reassurance & went ahead with the booking. Our outside space was fantastic, Lovely size pool (By no means a plunge pool size) & our outside space was fantastic. I don't understand complaints re ants or broken cues or appliances as one word to Reception and they send someone around in no time to fix them. We spotted a wasps nest and within 5mins they had resolved it. The cleaners were brilliant, friendly & unintrusive, As was the pool cleaner both came about 5 times a wk. The villas are exactly like the pictures, Yes they cud do with an update - Pine & floral is the decor but they have a really large lounge & good sized bedrooms and fantastically stocked kitchen. They are not pure luxury but above average hence the 4 star rating (Its not a hotel rating). Have to say downstairs was really big and jacuzzi area was perfectly clean but I wouldn't sleep there either although perfectly clean and decorated nicely with a bar and all down there, But its in the basement and wouldn't appeal to me. Hardly used downstairs as beautifully sunny and too much going on above ground to be honest.
Beach is fab and resort ctr loads of choice of bars & restaurants less then 10mins walk even with Kids. Fab walk further up along the beach all paved and chipmunks to view along the route - Meals very reasonable in resort fam of 5 from approx 60€ inc starters main courses, kids desserts/Drinks, wine & Beer. Also there is a market on a Sat morn from 9am - 2pm beside some of the villas up the top end of complex. Ours was down the other end near reception, Which was lovely and peaceful and pool area much more private.
Thing that worried me most was that the rooms were only accessable from the terrace around the pool so we had to give the kids their own key to lock themselves in at night and we would also have to lock our door at night but it was less freaky in reality. The master bedroom is beside the twin and the same key fits all the locks and we had a key too. Not really suitable if travelling with very young kids though, Ours are 5, 8 & 13 so it was fine but I suppose with monitors if they weren't too young maybe. As we got settled we felt more comfortable with it but glad I knew in advance to get my head around it.
Over all I'd say don't be put off we'd a lovely holiday with best of both worlds as had the entertainment and other pools to choose from in the complex for the kids but also had the privacy of our own big private space when we wanted too but not too secluded.
Re. Airport noise, Your beside it bound to be but certainly didn't bother us - No noise through the nt but early morning, You'd stir with the odd plane passing from 7.30ish but didn't keep us awake.

Room Tip: Email ahead look up Turi complex website, Best pic's too. We'd villa 6 - 2bed close enough t...

“Great villas if booked correctly!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

After reading reviews of these villas, after booking, we were somewhat apprehensive about our week away. We even contacted our agent for reassurance. We booked with Solmar Villas who let out two of the villas independently each week. They clearly state on their website that the Villas have been brought up to their standard.

On arrival at 7.30pm, we have to say that it absolutely exceeded our expectations. The Villa was reasonably modern and had everything we could possibly need for a self catering holiday. The Villa was clean and spacious.

Aircraft noise is apparant, the flight path is directly above the villa, but you dont notice them after a while apart from the first plane in at 7.30am-8, which disturbed us out of bed each morning, but the way we saw it was it meant we could do more throughout the day with an earlyish start.

On another review, there was a complaint about having to lock kids into their rooms etc, which I didnt understand. We stayed in a two bedroom villa, all of which was self contained on one floor, with games room and jacuzzi downstairs through a locked door. Our villa was adequate for four people, although they do say there is sofa beds downstairs, but I wouldnt use them.

We would fully recommend these villas if booked through Solmar. We cant comment on Villas booked elsewhere as, obviously we couldnt compare. The villas pool was cleaned daily, and the maid visited 5 times during our week, and I can honestly say that we have never had such a thorough maid service anywhere we have stayed before. She literally cleaned every inch of the villa downstairs and up.

In terms of the resort itself, it is a typical holiday resort. Lots of restaurants and shops, but not many bars that seemed to be open. I would advise against staying around the villa complex, unless slightly older. The bars on complex cater very much for the older generation, we are in our thirties. We ventured to a couple of bars in the resort which were more to our taste.

We would fully recommend the walk to Atlantico City Shopping centre. Its about 15 minutes to walk, but there is a huge supermarket there that is ridiculously cheap. You could get literally everything there and its a lot better than the local hyperdinos that are slightly closer. There are taxis outside if you buy a lot, that will take you back to the villa for 3 euros.

Incidentally, the taxi from the airport to villa was just over 10 euros, not worth booking transfers at all.

Room Tip: Book with Solmar Villas
