“we booked for a family of 4 2 months in advance for a wedding and they had no record of our booking!”

My husband was best man for a wedding and I booked 2 months in advance for a family unit as we were bringing our baby and preschooler, I got confirmation email of booking, and I sent another email the week before as Im a double checker, I got no reply so I phoned them and they said that they had no booking and they couldnt help me as motel is full that weekend, I said about confirmation email and offered to forward it, owner admitted later he found my email and wasnt sure how the muck up happened and was sorry, he said best he could offer was a unit that had no sky tv and no stove and I said thatl be fine as those 2 things didnt matter to me, also in my email I asked if it could be single story as I was afraid of the earthquakes with my little ones and he said all thier units are 1 story, when we arrived it wasnt even one of their official units it was underneath their house (not single story) with concrete column walls and ceilings, it was freezing cold and he said we should be toasty as he had the heaters on since 2pm well it felt no diff than outside all he had were 2 mini oil heaters, I asked if he had a fan heater or something instead and he said no just what you got, we all froze and I was particularly concerned for my wee baby who was getting over a cold. there wass no sink and I had to wash my babies bottles in the bathroom basin and do our dishes in there also, the jug surged the power board 4 times per every boil no matter where it was plugged in! our unit was not serviced at all on our 2nd day like all the other wedding guests although he finally bought fresh towels over at 4pm. He admitted to my husband that he usually only hires out the unit to the odd truckie when they are full, he could have saved my family and I a mserable time if he had of told us the truth over the phone before we came up! Ill also add the unit was one big room so my children got no sleep and nor did we as we all woke each other up, we had to listen to the owners every footstep upstairs and thier barking dog which they took down the stairwell outside our room in the middle of the night, the laundry with the industrial washing machine and dryer were also right through the wall! and then on the sunday they had the nerve to knock on my door at 1 minute past 10am to see if we were ready to get out, I told them to come to us last please, and then he kept coming back over while we were packing up and standing at the door grupily huffing and puffing at us! then as we were packing the car and I will admit this was 11.15 we were doing this he started going off at us about how 10am was checkout! well I gave him a peice of my mind id been so polite and tolerant up until then considering his incompetence and told him he was pushing his luck and that I was disgusted and would never be back!! Ive never come accross such incompetence in my life, these people should not own a business, he even scoffed about how people on holiday should be using the internet and dont need it and thats why they dont have it when I asked if they had wifi for our laptop, I thought it was such an ignorant attitude. never again, never again!!!

4 of us seniors have just completed a 19 day self tour of the South Island & stayed here 2 nights. The motel was absolutely spotless & spacious. The facilities exceeded our expectation. Peter made us very welcome and was extremely helpful.

Absolutely the best motel we had in South Island.

Highly recommended. *****

Extremely friendly service with lovely spacious units offering many little extras not usually found in today's budget accommodation. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the grounds beautifully maintained. Highly recommended.

“A Perfect Home from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2008

We stayed here for 6 nights and it was by far the best motel we had whilst travelling in NZ.

The English owners took over a few months ago and have completly repainted in and out. Whilst the bathroom and kitchens are a bit dated, they are spotlessly clean and the furnishings ar emore modern. The rooms are large and spacious with lots of storage, the small childrens playarea is nciely kept and safe and the gardens are very well maintained and peaceful. The owners are extremly considerate and helpful.

We stayed here as we were visiting friends in the area, but it is a beautiful location if you dont want to stay in the city - nearby deserted beaches, the town has plenty of takeaways, restaurants and foodstores.
