25-7-2007 We have just returned from our holiday feeling totally refreshed. Yes we had read the previous review about how the hotel was basic, it is, and we expected that, but what we did get was a spotless room, cleaned well with fresh towels every day, and a partial sea view from our balcony. The staff were lovely, it felt like a family home, with every body muckin in. I always say food is an aquired taste (one mans meat) I personally thought the food was great. The best way to descibe it is mums home cooking. It wasnt pretentious but it was hot and plentiful (I ate plenty )
The hotel patio area has a tuscany feel with the surrounding trees, and on most nights there was a duet of an accordian player and guitarist serenading with love songs, I felt as though I was on a second honeymoon,it was so relaxing.
The only downside is if you are infirm you may have a problem as you have to climb and descend steps to your room. The rooms are in an annex from the main reception buildng and the steps to the beach are quite steep but its worth it. The coast line around Srebeno and Mlini is lovely and the water even though pebbled is lovely to swim in, and crystal clear, we bought some small rubber swim shoes for a fiver from a local shop (problem solved) .
A must is take the water taxi from Mlini bay to Dubrovnik (about £8 return) its better than the bus and you see some interesting sights on the way and it is the best way to enter the old town. All in all a fantastic holiday and we will definitly return in the future.
