We must have checked in to the wrong hotel having read some of the previous contributions! If you read some previous reports from us you may gain an understanding that we are not easily pleased. The Vera Playa hotel is brilliant, the food (contrary to what others say) is outstanding, the variety is very extensive at every sitting and most fish and meat is cooked to order before your eyes. The service staff are very efficient and friendly, and regarding the sparrows, this is not a problem unless you leave your breakfast on the table unaccompanied. Overall, the hotel has a great relaxed atmosphere and guests from all nations are friendly and everyone makes an effort to chat to each other. Of course, you have the odd weirdo (more often than not a single man) perving around the pool, but naturist venues will always be an attraction to these sad individuals. The hotel room, reception and pool area are very clean and well maintained, beds are good quality, however the hotel could do with a little cosmetic update in some areas but this can be understandable in the current economic climate. We were surprised to meet couples who had paid as much as a £1000.00 more for a two week stay booking through Penge Travel, we booked on-line with Travel Republic and got a great deal (we did call Penge to see if they could offer a comparable deal but they wouldn’t move on their brochure prices). The only negative we found was the hotels evening entertainment; this is chronic unless you have children! English guests are certainly in the minority and little attempt is made by the entertainment staff to accommodate the English language, however when it is attempted it is incomprehendable. We only walked down to the beach once because we were happy to stay around the excellent pool all day where drink and food is 'on tap' all day, but the beach is clean although a bit shingly on the feet. The only reason why we won't return next year is because of the evening entertainment that focused on about six children until midnight totally ignoring and insulting the majority adult guests. There is little alternative entertainment outside of the hotel other than a cafe' like English bar (Frankies), a gay bar and swingers club. After midnight the hotel's disco opens but we only stayed until 1.30AM whereupon it remained quiet and lacked atmosphere (no DJ just piped music). Overall we had a brilliant holiday at the Vera Playa Club and would recommend it to others. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you want any more specific information. Finally, a message to the hotel management, consider increasing the entertainment budget and raise your game with the entertainment quality focusing on the majority adult guests; the children are more than catered for during the day and early evening.
