“In a time warp - very dated”

I stayed here in late october and felt I had gone back 30 years in time - the lady who runs it is very pleasant and helpful but the premises are very dated with poor quality furniture, sticky carpets, cheap beds etc which would be ok if the price was cheap but at £62 for a double room it is not. I was glad to leave.

like many of the reviews on this site with regards to this hotel i have to agree that it's not the best b and b ever. My family and daughter's friend stayed for one night on a trip to aberystwyth. The initial impression is that the hotel is stuck in some sort of time warp and needs kicking and dragging in to the modern age. As for the rooms they where small and need a major updating. The breakfast which was included in the price was an average meal. Unfortunately as you can tell from this review i cannot recommend this hotel.

“Be careful!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2010

Had a one night stopover on journey to South Wales. Very average accommodation, decor a touch dated, bed very uncomfortable could feel the springs all night. Carpet didn't feel clean and was a little sticky underfoot.
For £10 more had a wonderful night in Carmarthenshire. Goose down duvet, luxury mohair throw and matching cushions. Solid oak flooring, luxury double power shower, and fantastic breakfast, so don't be fooled thinking above is value for money!

“what can i say !”

The room we were in was in the "Annex" , the house next door !., it smelled damp and was dirty, the bedroom had a 4 poster bed in it with some-one elses long dark hair in it , there was a line of thick dust under the radiator ( no heating and the room was freezing), the kettle had tea/coffee splashed over it and the power cord was cracked. The bathroom was also dusty and carpeted with a hole behind the loo and the shower that went into the bedroom , this was sort of blocked by a wardrobe.
The breakfast was just passable .
When checking out we were welcomed with "52" ! I paid up and we left NEVER TO GO THERE AGAIN.

“Lovely place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2007

My husband and I, and my parents stayed at Liverpool House, in Rhayader in September 2007, and were pleasantly surprised. Im not a big fan of B&B;s where you stay in the same house as the owner, and the only reason I chose Liverpool house was for the cheap price - £21 per person B&B.

But we had 2 lovely rooms, with ensuite bathroom & tv, Tea & coffee making facilities. The bathrooms were very clean and tidy, and the rooms (very small) but warm and well equipped. The owner has 2 houses, one that she lives in, and where you go for breakfast. and the other house has ll the rooms, so it really was like a hotel. There was no traffic on the road outside the whole night, so we had a great nights sleep. My parents were in a side room, and they slept well too.

We walked 5 minutes up the road to the pub for dinner - there were about 3 or 4 different little pubs to choose from for dinner, plus a superette type market, bookshop etc as well.

We were served a lovely Welsh breakfast the next morning, with cereals, toast, 3 different juices, eggs bacon hash brown, mushrooms, tomato, sausage tea & coffee etc. My husband cant eat too much oily food, so specially requested scrambled eggs on toast with no oils, and this wasnt a problem.

We enjoyed our stay at Liverpool House, I recommend it, and would stay here again, as it offers great value for money. Only one potential issue for other travellers would be the small room size,. This didnt bother us in the slightest, as we were only in there to sleep.

  • Liked — Value for money, quiet, good breakfast
  • Disliked — Nothing, it was excellent
