“A gem of a B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

In an area of Yorkshire devoid of reasonably priced quality hotels this B & B is a gem. B
eautifully furnished with individually designed bedrooms and complemented by a first class breakfast menu this is the place to stay. In a quiet village location and not far from Selby, York and Scarborough are also within easy reach for the tourist, and business visitors working in the area have access to the nearby A1M and M62. .

Beware room 10 however, which is split level although full of charm itsd unusual layout would make it difficult for some elderly or disabled guests.

Room Tip: Acoid room 10 if you have difficulty with stairs and changing floor levels and low beams. This ro...

“Lovely hotel, Christine the owner was very welcoming, fab breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

We had a lovely weekend in Yorkshire. The Old Vicarage is an ideal setting for visiting a lot of the tourist spots. It's a lovely olde worde property with oak beams etc. and has a real wow factor. Although the Old Vicarage has no licence, the Kellington Manor just around the corner (5 minutes walk) serves excellent meals. Definitely have a return visit.

“Good old fashioned hospitality that's hard to find these days!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

Nothing was too much trouble for hotel owner Christine who took obvious pride in what she did. The room was spacious and very comfortable with lots of wardrobe and hanger space. The room also had a very pleasant view over the well manicured gardens. There was a couple of pubs within easy and flat walking distance. We went to Kellington Manor for our evening meal where the food served was fresh, hot and in abundance. If you like big meals, you'll love it. If you prefer an 'ordinary' sized meal, order one and share it, you certainly won't leave hungry!!! There was no pressure to vacate the room early and we were able to take a leisurely breakfast before departure.

“lovely traditional accommodation with good old fashioned service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2010

I stayed here as a surprise birthday weekend and I loved it. The Old Vicarage has lots of charm, the rooms are well furnished and spotlessly clean. Located in beautiful gardens which our room overlooked. Christine, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful in advising on places to eat and tips on how to get to York, places to go etc. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room and some yummy nougat on arrival. Breakfast was superb! choice of cereals, yoghurts etc and then a lovely cooked breakfast - plenty of choice on what you could have etc. Much more enjoyable than staying in a large hotel. Definitely recommend and more than likely that we will return. The Old Vicarage is situated in a small village so not for those who like lots of noise and nightlife. Very relaxing stay.
