“Fantastic stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My partner and I stayed here on a Friday night on route to Brighton and we had a great night. Very warm welcome on arrival and on a cold night the roaring fire in the bar was a real luxury. We decided to eat in the restaurant and the food was great - I ate from the specials menu and my partner chose from the regular menu both dishes were delicious and the wine was fantastic. The staff in the restaurant and the hotel were very polite and attentive - a real credit to the hotel. The rooms were clean and decorated tastefully, providing everything you might need with a sense that some thought had gone into it.
Very good value and a treat to find somewhere with real character, we will defiantly stay here again.

“Much better than we expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We have stayed in many different hotels and used this as a stop over. Our experiences have been many and varied and so we were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The staff were excellent and the rooms were clean. They have obviously been refurbished in the recent past. The heating had packed up that day, but these things happen and we were given an electric heater which did the job. The restaurant food was excellent. Excluding the cost we had a good stop over. When you add the cost in, we thought it was excellent value.

“A nice character inn with excellent staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

The Greyhound has a nice old world feel about it, log fires, oak beams and lots of character. The staff were all very helpful and eager to please, especially the chef. The hotel had two large parties booked in for special occasions the night we were staying but the chef still managed to organise a couple of delicious bar snacks when we first arrived. Also the cooked breakfast was excellent. Our room was quite small but comfortable however a bit dimly lit, no bulb in the main light just a couple of bedside lamps with dark shades and a small standard lamp. The bathroom was good with a large walk in shower cubicle. The beds were also very comfortable. Housekeeping could be a bit better, a used tissue in the wardrobe an empty tea packet on the floor plus some stains on the bed valance were a bit offputting! The inn was very lively in the evening and is very popular with the locals, the food was excellent and overall this is a good hotel with excellent staff and lots of character. One of the staff said it even has it's own ghost!!

“Sweet place but bedrooms a bit shabby & average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Chalfont St Peter is such a lovely little place, a real old england village. The grey hound is a pretty english pub and the pub and restaurant were lovely. The room I was allocated however was a bit disappointing. The website made it look like a boutique hotel but the room was very average, a bit shabby and dated, and my big bugbear of hotels - no drinking water in the rooms. This should be mandatory in any hotel or B&B anywhere - across the board.

Service OK, nothing outstanding. Would stay again as conveniently located but only for work not really leisure.
