Exercise extreme cautious when booking this property online. This hotel left an extremely unpleasant aftertaste on the last night of our honeymoon in Italy.
We first came across this hotel through Tripadvisor, and were attracted by the fact that they charged reasonable rates for a 4 star hotel, which made up for the fact that the hotel was actually located outside of Assisi. We booked 1 night directly on the hotel's website, paid through PayPal and received an online confirmation of our stay from the hotel.
However, when we turned up at the hotel after a long 6 hour drive from Venice, the reception staff informed us that they had made a mistake with the price quoted on the website. There were no apologies, and they were unable to explain why they didn't bother calling me on my local mobile number. We were flabbergasted but checked in nonetheless, figuring that we could sort it out with the manager the next morning.
When checking out the next morning, the manager refused to budge, despite the fact that we had paid in full and that the hotel had confirmed our reservation. When we tried to negotiate, the manager threatened to call the police!
Eventually a different reception staff person offered us a slight "discount" off their rack rates (the manager was still trying to call the police at this point!), but I was in for another surprise - they claimed that they had yet to receive any payment from PayPal, and were therefore unwilling to offset the "new" rate from the amount that we had already paid! We were essentially forced to pay again for a room which we had already paid in full.
If you decide to book this property, make sure that you CALL to confirm your rate and reservation!

We apologise for the delay, but it is with regret that we wish to report the insulting comments left by the client in the Review entitled "Terrible service"
Aug 7, 2006 domo, Sydney, Australia -
Firstly we would like to point out that the said client is not from Australia but Singapore. The booking concerned only one day and had been carried out through the online system with Pay Pal.
Our programmer, who had inserted a random price of € 10,00 per night for a double room with breakfast as a means of testing the system, had clearly forgotten to make the necessary corrections. Shortly afterwards the client completed the booking at the above listed conditions, for € 10,00 per night.
Given that the booking had been completed so quickly, we immediately emailed the client to signal that there had been a mistake, but received no reply. The confirmation quoted by the client is a default confirmation (sent in automatic by the system and not by the hotel staff). We would like to point out that the hotel staff immediately sent written notification to the client to warn of the misunderstanding.
Contrary to what the client wrote in the report, at the time of check-in the hotel staff immediately apologised for the mistake and informed the client of the going rates for that time of year, without receiving the slightest objection or refusal.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind the client, who claims to be a solicitor, that by Italian law diligence and good faith are pre-contractual requisites.
With regards to the amount credited by the Pay Pal system, we would like to highlight that this took place on 27.07.2006, the day after the client checked out.
In any case the sum of € 10,00 is so ridiculously small that one can only wonder how anyone could possibly imagine it to be applicable to a room in a four star hotel !!!
