“Lovely Marillia, not so nice beach bars!”

We've just returned from a week in Perilolos at Marillia Village, Marillia village is a lovely small apartment village. Our studio room (number 11) was a good size, beds comfortable, separate settee/bed, fridge, safe etc, plenty of space for clothes, the shower wasn't the most powerful but that didn't bother us. All rooms have a nice terrace area, ours was secluded & out of the way of the pool (which suited us). Our room was cleaned every day without fail with fresh towels etc. The complex is fairly new but has some beautiful established palms planted areas. The staff were friendly, the pool is fairly small but adequate in any case we prefer the beach. If you, like us prefer a quiet relaxing beach you may prefer to walk further along the sea front to the area between Perivolos & Perrisa or turn right once you get to the sea front because some areas of Perivolos beach are not the relaxing beach they are made out to be, there are about three beach bars shortly after you turn left onto the sea front where they play loud rubbish banging music all day long and they are a posers paradise! They are also very expensive, 4 euros a beer 10 euros a cocktail it was intimidating walking by them, but worth it to get towards Perrisa. I felt sorry for the traditional restaurant owners who had to compete with the noise the noise of the bikes boy racers along the badly lit road on the sea front with no path. But fear not, these loud bars actually close at night around 8pm. If you walk along towards Perissa (much nicer end) you will find some far more reasonable priced bars not banging out loud music. Two together are Perissa Bay Blue Palace very reasonable price very nice staff with beach service. also Dorians bar in perissa was nice with good prices too, we found the best cocktais were at Pleasure in Perivolos, but only after 6pm when they're cheaper at 5 Euros. Some notable restaurants are, Accropolis, Aphrodite, Port Costelos, Charlinas Meteora all excellent food, to be fair I don't think there is a bad restaurant in Perivolos or Perissa. I can recommed the Water taxi to Kamari, the local buses are a cheap way around the Island (not always ontime though!!!). The rest of the island was very beautiful we just wish we'd been given the whole truth about the beach bars at Perivolos.

“Excellent in every way.”

Our weeks stay at the Marillia was excellent. Spotlessly clean, friendly staff and relaxing. I would say that if you want a relaxing holiday at the end of the season, this is the place to go. The food at the Marillia was very good. Our choice for eating out in the evening was a Tavern near by, The Pervilios. Situated across from the beach and 5mins walk away. A small but excellent menu. The staff where fantastic. All in all a great chilled holiday.

Stayed at Marillia Village apartments for our daughter's wedding. We all had a great time and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Apartments kept spotlessly clean.
Very relaxing holiday and very convenient short walk from the beach and beach restaurants. There were more restaurants further away which we also used, but still within a comfortable walk. Although probably too far for young children and a bit dark in the evening.

We would have preferred a receipt system for the food and drinks bought at the hotel which would safeguard the hotel and the guests.

A point to mention if thinking of booking, is some of the apartments have steep stairs to the loft bedroom, not a problem for us but something to think of if you are not very agile.
Plenty of lovely apartments though with everything on one level.

“Marvellous Marillia!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

Just back from a week in Marillia Village, Santorini. Stayed in a 1-bedroomed apartment which was very spacious and very clean (rooms cleaned and had fresh towels/bedding every day), in fact the whole village is kept spotlessly clean - the only mess we saw was the constant falling of the bouganvillia flowers on the pathways, so hardly a problem. Lovely pool area with plenty of sun beds.

Had a couple of evenings in the bar having a few glasses of wine (and a snack) enjoying ourselves with Pedros the bar guy. Didn't have breakfast during our stay (although our friends did and said it was OK) even though it was provided in with our package (with Thomson). Good flights to/from Gatwick, in fact we arrived back 15 minutes early on our return.

Marillia is only a couple of minutes to the very long beach (where the only downside was the black sand getting very hot during the day) and numerous tavernas. Santorini wine was good - we had the house wine every time at between 7-8 Euros a litre and it was well worth the money. As it was almost at the end of the season (everything closes on 12th October we were told), some of the restaurants/bars were closed, as were some of the sunbed operators - however, the ones outside the tavernas were still open for business and were free if you used them for drinks/food.

A half-hour stroll into Perissa along the seafront gave us a bit of exercise (needed after all the food we consumed) and it was quite a nice walk actually.

We only went for the relaxation of the beach side of Santorini, so can't comment on the sightseeing side of things on the other side of the island. All I can say is that we were slightly disappointed in Santorini itself, it is so dry and barren and have been to much prettier Greek islands before. Did hear it was more expensive in Fira and other 'touristy' places on the island, but Perissa/Perivolos was quite reasonably priced.

If I went back to Santorini I would definitely stay at the Merillia Village and would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing stay in good surroundings, near to the beach and tavernas and with good staff.

“Beautiful island, great hotel.”

My partner and I had a super 2 weeks in Santorini and at the Marillia Village. It went so quick as felt relaxed from the very first moment we arrived.

The hotel is spotless, food great at the bar (though drinks were overpriced) and a great pool. It isn't the biggest pool but certainly adequate for the number of people staying at the hotel and always enough sunbeds.

The rooms were excellently decorated and cleaned. As mentioned on other reviews the only downside is the size of the bathrooms though that is pretty standard for Greece.

We did both have severe earache for part of the holiday, the doctor we went to see suggested it was probably down to the pool and this was backed up by our GP back at home.

The receptionist at the hotel also was not too helpful when we wanted to see a doctor or hire a car.

The location of the hotel is in Perivolos which was pretty quiet with not great restaurants. We tended to walk to Perissa (bout 45 mins - so quite hard when so hot!) where there were superb restaurants (the only bad one all holiday was in Perivolos) - too many to recommend them all. Also there are bars on way to stop for a drink on the walk.

Overall a great time and would certainly return to Santorini and to the Marillia.
