“4th Visit Still Charming”

RDC Feb 1-11, our group ended up about 30 people, we were all in block 5 & 6, which was great. As usual the simple rooms were clean, enough water daily, you get face clothes if you ask, plenty of towels, always hot water with plenty of pressure for showers. Basic hotel size soap, but I bring my own as with all my personal stuff.
We got use out of pool 6 several days, nice spot close to the snack hut and bar. Our basic meeting spot was bar 5 like all the bars the bartenders are great, always a smile. Coffee was out there early mornings as well, did all or breakfast meals at 5 too, that egg cook is a great lady. We did buffets at the other two several nights, of course not gourmet, but always something to eat, lot of fresh fruit and vegies if all else failed. A few of our travelers went to Wok, Brazilian, and Italian and they were all pleased, funny several didn't have reservations, but managed to get in due to no shows.
WE didn't attened any evening shows. We hung with friends at the bars or walked into Bucerias and went out.
Did do the beach massage for $20, the manager Manny was very nice and we felt those 60 min flew by.
Most of the 30 during the week ate at Fat Boys at one point, that sea food is so great. Also had fun at Yo Yo Moes, Shamrock, Drunken Duck, and Geico. Took city bus to Sayulita for the day, trip was fine, hard bumming around town as the streats and side walks are torn up, busy little village to say the least, enjoyed drinks and food on the beach and stopped at the Calypso.
Hit PV one day, the remodel of the malecon is wonderful, so much space to walk and look, with out the worry of traffic. Did the usual tourist shopping then stopped at Cheeky Monkey, Roma Cafe(such a fun place), and ate at Pepe's great food but huge portions could have shared.
No there's no clock, coffee maker, or fridge, but those 10 days couldn't have been nicer, no work, cooking, cleaning, phones ringing, or SNOW. Maybe we're just not fussy but for what we paid it was once again a wonderful vacation. Our newbies loved the place too, all said they felt safe, comfortable, and welcome from the minute we arrived, that alone says alot.
Guess my one and only complaint, is a certain group of people, who have NO common sense, butt lines, go to the head of the line, take the table your book is on while you get food and just RUDE. Think most of us know who we mean, for some reason they feel entitled I guess. One woman pushed in line between my sis and her hubby while they were waiting at the pasta bar, when my bro inlaw made a comment SHE got huffy but she was 110% in the wrong. Lines form at the end and wait your turn, geeze taught my kids that when they were 2.
But thank RDC and Bucerias area for a wonderful vacation, hope to see you again in the future.

Room Tip: all rooms are basic, we asked for king bed but got 2 doubles, which is fine. the grounds are very wa...

“Great location away from Puerto Vallarta. Clean. Safe.”

I recently stayed at the RDC with my mum and infant daughter. The beach is beautiful and ocean is good for swimming, although tides were changeable and I would be cautious with younger children. The resort was impeccably clean, staff were friendly, and vendors on the beach (who are allowed by the resort) were polite and not too persistent.

The food was good, but not great. My preference would have been for more authentic Mexican food. The fresh fruit was fantastic.

Rooms are fine. Nothing spectacular. If you are picky, bring your own pillow. The chainlock on the door did not work, but the resort felt safe.

The town of Bucerias (a short walk from the resort) is well worth exploring. There are some great galleries and a market nearby.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the ocean, but not in Block 5 (by the disco).

We booked a trip in the summer of 2011 to the RDC. The photos of the hotel looked pretty nice...but the when we arrived we realized the place was fairly dated. It really needs a fresh coat of paint etc. The room had no mini-fridge which is a real pain. We bought water, beer, and soda from the the Mega (?) down the road about 2 km.. You can then buy ice from the Oxxo (7-11) up the road from the resort. The restaurants and buffets were okay but really not that elaborate. You get what you pay for. It was the rainy season which means there are very cool thunderstorms every evening...leading to torrential rivers of water flowing through the resort. It was actually kinda cool. For shopping...you can walk to the market (1 km) for crappy touristy gifts or take the bus into Puerto Vallarta. The bus stops up near the Oxxo. You can stop anywhere you want......at the Mega...at the local Walmart...or continue up to the PV Walmart at the marina. There you can transfer to another bus to continue on to to downtown PV to shop. I forget the bus prices....but its like a couple bucks each way. The driver will give you change. We did the Pirate Cruise...which was really cool......a good time for sure. Overall....we would not return to the RDC....it really wasnt that great. Pay a little more and get a lot more.

“Great food, Great service & Safe”

A group of three of us travelled to Bucerias for a week. First off I'll say I was so impressed with the Royal Decameron hotel that I just recently booked a 14 day stay at their Panama resort.

The food was great - tons of variety and always somewhere to eat regardless of the time of day. We didn't manage to make it to any el le cartes but people we had met raved about them. The adult pool is near the Japanese resturant and it smelt great!

One bonus of the Royal Decameron is there surplus of activities. There is always something to do for anyone of any age.

Safety was never an issue and there was security throughout the entire resort. We had spent many nights at the disco which is a short walk the main hotel and had a security guard walk us back to our room.

The rooms are basic but very clean. We didnt spend much time in our rooms so didnt need anything fancy.

Bucerias is beautiful - it was great that the resort was so close to such a slow-paced community. Take a day or two and go to the markets and check out some of the resturants on the beach!

The only negitive thing I could say about this resort is the amount of locals and perhaps it was sometimes aimed more towards the Latin American population than the Westerners. Overall though the resort was good and I would definately go again.

** A MUST DO **
Take the day travel into Puerto Vallarta and go to the zoo. You can arrange a taxi to take you into the city but he will not be able to pick you up in Puerto Vallarta because it is a different state. The zoo though is well worth the trip! You can a bag of food (nuts, bread, vegetables) to feed to the animals. It is unlike any zoo I have ever seen in North America! I was lucky enough to hand feed a giraffe, and zebra. I was able to touch the giraffe just as I would touch the cheek of a horse, unforgettable experience.

“beautiful and entertaining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

my wife and i went to bucerias for 5 days this febuary. to start, it should be made clear that you are not going to Puerto Vallarta when you book this resort. It should be known that you are in fact an easy 30 minutes north by taxi of Puerto Vallarta. The Royal Decameron resort is the first complex once you hit Bucerias. the resort seems to own a much larger chunk of land than just where the actual resort buildings sit which is noticeable when walking around short distances from the resort.

first off the food: in my opinion, the food was excellent. i knew when booking this resort that i wasnt going to get 5 star dining every night. but what i didnt expect was for the two buffets to be so excellent! the menus alternate nightly so you shouldnt really get bored with the food! and there is always something to eat! not to mention your all inclusive package will include everything you could possibly want to drink!

the rooms: this was the only part of the resort i felt lacked. but once i thought about it.... it didnt. when you first walk in the room, if you are thinking of a 5 star american hotel, you will be disappointed. but if you walk in remembering that you are in Mexico and that you wanted to feel like you were in Mexico (otherwise you would have stayed in Nuevo Vallarta or America) you will feel right at home. we stayed in block 2 which is right behind flamingo check in area. it was great! the covered deck looked straight out at the ocean over the top of pool number 1. the room was greatly cleaned every day! the bedding was changed out every day as well as any towels we left on the floor. they also provided a bottle of water for the room every day which was perfect! the TV is not worth mentioning but if you are watching tv in your room in mexico than you have problems in my opinion.

entertainment: WOW! they go above and beyond in this area! great job guys, if anyone from the crew reads this, i cant say enough how great the shows were. the disney tribute with pedro the seal was unbelievable! Just WOW!!!!

well thats about it! unbelievable experience at the royal decameron! enjoyed every minute, wish i could have stayed longer. my wife and i will definitely be back as soon as we can, this time with our young boy.

dont listen to what anyone says about how dangerous mexico is, the people are great and its incredibly safe!!!! thanks for the great stay!

Room Tip: block 5 seemed quieter but the ocean views were great from block 2
