“Great Ski Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Great resort and this hotel is very good. We stayed in an apartment which was nice and comfortable. We've stayed in a few apartments on skiing trips and this was by far the best. Clean, roomy, warm and had an ensuite as well as the bathroom. Water was warm but the pressure in the showers wasn't amazing but adequate. The cleaners kept the building nice and clean and also cleaned the apartment twice during the week. Having a separate double bedroom was very useful as all the apartments we've stayed in before just had couches that convert to beds. I can't emphasize enough how perfectly located the hotel and apartments are. Right beside the ski school and directly beside the main gondola and chairlift to the top of the mountain. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The La Racletta restaurant was fantastic with very helpful staff and delicious food. The overall resort is excellent with great pistes for both learner and professional. Being able to ski to La Rosiere on the French side is a bonus as well. Everyone in the town was helpful and had good English. Great holiday and the best of my 6 ski trips so far. Definitely going to go back here.

“Good location for skiing but check when conferences are on”

This was my third stay at the hotel. It is in a great location for the ski slopes and ski school.
The food in the dining room buffet is good although the vegetables need to be warmer.
The rooms are basic for a 4 star hotel, there is no tea/coffee facilities but there is a hair dryer and empty fridge for your use.
The evening entertainment is a couple who sing well known songs, but there was a gathering of guests from Galleria Spagnoli which last the week and took over the bar area. They took over the TV lounge, card room and conservatory. At one ate their music and talk were projected through a speaker into the lodge area which was a step too far.
Crystal reps were very good and had a good selection of events.

“Great Holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed at the Planibel between 15 and 22 January 2012. Check in was busy when we arrived but was dealt with efficiently by staff who spoke excellent English.
Our room was on the 4th floor with a balcony view over the car park at the front of the hotel towards the mountains. The double room was basic but had everything we required. The double bed was huge and the only complaint we had was that the mattress was very hard. Plenty of storage space included a small fridge, ideal for keeping your water cool as the rooms are roasting.
The bathroom was fairly decent with a bath and shower and always had plenty of hot water. It also has a fitted hairdryer.
The reception and dining room were on different levels and took a bit of getting used to as not all the lifts had the names beside the buttons. 4 lifts served each floor and were a bit erratic to say the least.
Free ski lockers were provided for a 5 euro refundable deposit and were at the back of the hotel to give access to the slopes. A single lift gave access to ground level to get out the back of the hotel with your skis and again could be very erratic or just not turn up at all. The rear of the hotel can be a bit of a rabbit warren until you find out where you are going. It is only a couple of minutes walk with ski boots on to either the gondola or chair lifts.
The restaurant is buffet style but with some courses being served by staff rather than helping yourself. The food on the whole was very good with several choices and the puddings were excellent every night. On the day of departure the dining room was open for breakfast from 0530 which was handy for those with an early start.
The hotel has a network of bars and lounges which stretch through the building including a conservatory-style restaurant near to the bottom of the slopes which was ideal for lunch as ski gear was permitted. The pizzas were delicious and huge, feeding 2 easily.
Overall we had no complaints about this hotel, the staff were friendly and efficient, the food was good and it was well placed for the slopes. We had a great holiday in La Thuile.

Room Tip: We were happy with allocated room. Rooms facing the car park get the sun in the morning.

“Awesome skiing - hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Just come back from Hotel Planibel and had the best ever skiing holiday. The hotel is perfectly located. Room very comfortable and lots of space to put things. Food very varied at dinner sometimes not as hot as it could be. You can rent a ski locker in the local Berthod ski hire shop and it is just next to the slope. Cost 10 euro deposit which you get back at the end. Well worth it.
