This was truly the most magical getaway if you are more of a "do it yourselfer" and like to be away from crowds and resorts. We have stayed on Providenciales and we are now hooked on getting to the other islands. You have the beach pretty much to yourself and the Hollywood Suites are provisioned perfectly-snorkel, kayak, bicycles for outdoor activities, and the kitchen/cooking equipment is awesome-and so is the outdoor grill with a view....and the screened porch is the best idea to maximize your outdoor experience since there are mosquitos occasionally. Alveda is the best-she takes care of you if you need-she will cook amazing dinners, bring fish, or just leave you alone so that you can relax. We feel the price is a great deal-right on the beach, and did not see anything like this that was well cared for, etc. while on North Caicos.

There are mosquitos and no-see-ums, but only at certain parts of the day. The suites are next to each other, so that only a screen separates you from each of the units when sitting in your enclosed patio.

We brought bottles of wine and a bottle of rum in our suitcases, olive oil, seasoning salt, coffee, and a plastic lemon of lemon juice. We stopped at IGA before the ferry and stocked up on everything else-it's worth it to menu plan a little. Alveda brought us fish and we even made our own fresh conch fritters, fresh from the front yard (ocean!).

This is definitely not for everyone-most of our friends prefer a more "resort" experience, but this was our favorite vacation getaway ever-and we have traveled to many tropical places in the Caribbean and Central America. We spent 3 years on a sailboat sailing from San Diego to Florida through the Panama Canal-so we do like things adventurous-but with the comforts of home.

Christine & I had the pleasure of visiting the absolutely gorgeous island of North Caicos this past February. Having chosen the Hollywood Beach Suites for the week from our on line research and Trip Advisor reviews. After arriving on the ferry (very cool trip on its own), we were met by Charlton, a friendly, knowledgeable representative who drove us to the hotel. Calling it a hotel isn't accurate as it is 4 attached cottages. Period. And that's a good thing.


As there is very little in the way of large grocery stores on North Caicos, you can arrange to have the taxi that takes you from the airport to the ferry docks to stop at the IGA (yes, an IGA) to stock up on what you will want to eat during your stay. I think you can also contact the resort in advance and they will arrange to have your kitchen cupboards and fridge stocked with your choice of foods., etc. I am not 100% sure of this so check with them first.

We were more than pleasantly surprised with the size of the suite. Large rooms, seperate bedroom, screened porch and attractive comfortable furniture. A fully equipped kitchen. Bathroom with shower. It had it all.

Now for the beach. Wow! What a beach. 7 gorgreous miles of sand. Steps from your front door. You like privacy? This beach is for you? You like to lay on a lounge chair with 400 other hotel guests and be served fancy overpriced drinks with umbrellas in them? If so, this ain't the place for you. You can cover the whole 7 miles of the beach and myabe run into a few people in a day. Really.

Special mention goes out to Jane in their reservation department. Having exchanged a few emails and phone calls with her, we were very impressed with her level of professionalism and super friendly demeanour.

Hi Jane. We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation on North Caicos and we miss our island life. Alveda took care of us in every way and she made our trip so memorable. We can't thank her enough for her delicious food and her loving attention. We enjoyed our accommodations, our kayaks, our hammocks, our bikes and our beautiful private beach. Everything was just as promised, if not better, and the daily snorkeling was so much fun.
The kitchen was well-stocked with all dishes, pots and wineglasses. We only used the washer/dryer once but found them to be so convenient. The internet service was an extra bonus as we had no idea we'd be able to check in with our children so easily on our very remote island. We enjoyed all our meals on our screened front porch with our gorgeous view of the Caribbean. Alveda lined up our scuba diving trip and Dedrick was a fabulous guide. He even gave us a driving tour of the island after our dives. Thank you for our romantic getaway.

Hollywood Beach Suites is located on North Caicos, a hop by taxi and boat from the mass tourism resorts of Provodenciales. If you know what you want, you can match it to what HWB offers and have a wonderful time. Come with fantasies and you are better off in Provo. Turks and Caicos grows very little food. Almost everything is imported from the USA, and the prices are high. I always bring food-coffee, cereal, mesclune, olive oil, meat, garlic, salad dressing, etc. I anticipate what I want. the selection of food on the island is limited, so its not a gourmet destination. that said, I have had no trouble cooking for 4 in the kitchenette. You just need to use the fabulous grill as well. Alveda has access to the freshest fish, grits and grouper is an island classic. The owner is constantly making improvements, such as wi-fi and an outdoor shower. This is one of the most relaxing places in the world for me. After stumbling upon it shortly after it opened, I have been to HWBS 7 or 8 times. the empty beach and turquoise water, the sound of wind in the trees...I love it.
