We booked two rooms for two nights at the Golden Tulip, its the only hotel in Papendrecht so choice is limited, the public areas don't reflect the rest of the hotel, which are quite modern and bright, the bed rooms are in need of a refresh and are quite simple and sparse, the carpet in our bedroom needed to be given a good clean as it had several stains on it, overall the room was clean and we couldn't complain.

What they don't mention on their site is that they are rebuilding the hotel, we where there on a Saturday through to Monday morning and there was no building noise, until 0830 on Monday.

The staff are extremely helpful nothing is too much trouble.

Breakfast wasn't included in the rate, while there was a good choice of dutch breakfast, the scrambled eggs and bacon weren't that appetising, given how much they charge they could have refreshed the bacon and sausages more often or do eggs cooked to order.

Never full for a reason. While the rooms have been updated the hotel is as disappointing as ever.
Over priced, no no free internet, very slow restaurant with limited over priced menu.
All the rest is very average even for Holland, stained carpets, mold in the bathroom, small beds etc etc
If you have the chance to stay somewhere else take it. The Bastion in Dordrecht is a lower grade but has friendly staff, the restaurant serves food that will fill you up without emptying your wallet and the internet is included without extra charge.

Stayed at Garden Wing of this hotel and the entrance to this wing smelled bad. (musty) This was confirmed by colleauge too. Room was on the ground floor, clean and spacious. Bed comfortable. Restaurant was also average with a wine selection of 2 (red or white)

We visited Holland for the Tour and stayed at the Golden Tulip as B & B. We arrived in Holland by car on the Ferry from Hull. Simple journey to Papendrecht. At the hotel, our room was large and the staff had put 3 beds in the bedroom for my sons and I. The lounge part of the bedroom was comfortable and really useful for our planning. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It was over 30 degrees, no aircon, but the staff gave us a large fan. Everyone spoke English and helped with advice and directions. There is a secure room within the hotel for cycles. We took our bikes and cycled to the Tour in Rotterdam each day. We also visited Kinderdyk, a must for viewing the windmills, that used to drain the polder. Take the fast ferry across the water from West of Kinderdijk to Krimpen, across the Lek to Rotterdam, rather than cycle back towards Ridderkerk for Rotterdam, saved miles. I believe that this hotel is due to be rebuilt in the near future.
