We booked a junior suite, style ruch (alpine, wooden style). The room had a good size, with fantastic view over the valley. The bathroom was modern and separated from the room by a glass door (open to the ceiling -so not real privacy)
The walls are very thin and we unfortunately had a family with two young, very loud children next door. They were very disturbing especially in the early morning.
Breakfast had a vaste buffet selection with meat, cheese, muesli and eggs to order. The staff is young, friendly and helpful. We ate ones dinner there at Valentins Day. They decorated each table with flowers and had a special menu which was very good and reasonable priced. The dining room is too big to feel cozy, good for breakfast, but no really for dinner. The bar was a bit disappointing, rather dark, no fire during daytime and too old fashioned.
The hamman itself is surprisingly small and has no wow-effect from the design and style. One evening, we booked the private sauna which is about 3 minutes away from the hotel, outside and costs extra. It is mini-size, no place to lie and no place to cool down. The picture from the sauna pool is a joke though it is not running in winter. A big disappointment was the massage. The treatment room looked like a doctors treatment room. The rooms were separated by a glass door and the man in the next room talked all the time and very loud, so the massage wasn't relaxing at all.
The hotels X-factor is the big terrasse with wonderful views and the hotels location on the top of the hill. Guests are families with young children and younger couples, rather artists than bankers.
Over all, a good hotel in the middle class but I don't understand the hype about the place. In the last 10 years, we stayed at Saratz in Pontresina which I definitely prefer. More style, hip, spacious public areas and big comfortable pool and treatment area.
