We showed up without a booking after spotting the place up the hill and we had one of the best hotel experiences ever. Amazing room with balcony, beautiful hamam, great food & wine in the bar and beautiful contemporary artwork. Just perfect!

As a keen skier I took my wife to a romantic weekend and found this hidden spot just close to St Moritz. The hotel was just amazing. It had the thrilling combination of both traditional Swiss alpine style and modern art. The staff was very friendly and professional and our room was designed by a famous Swiss and in an excellent condition with a smell of local wood. We chose to have dinner all our nights in the hotel and the food was a good combination of Swiss European cross-over cuisine. There are ski slopes just around the corner and not far away from the greater St Moritz ski area where we found the slopes in perfect powder conditions.
When you go to the beautiful Engadin area, you expect the traditional Swiss hospitality combined with a modern twist, and this you can find at the Castell Hotel.

it is by far one of the best value for money high quality hotels we have ever been. Very nice building with pieces of modern art all around, very comfortable rooms with modern decor, outstanding spa, excellent restaurant and very friendly and competent staff. What else?

In the past i had the pleasure to stay twice at the Hotel Castell in Zuoz. I count both of these stays as the best nights i have ever spend in a hotel room. The hotel is located above the small village Zuoz with a breathtaking view over the Engadin (valley). When you book i recommend to make sure to book a room with view on the valley side. The larger rooms even have a small balcony. Although this is not necessary since there is also a great outdoor area in the ground level restaurant. Usually the rooms with valley view are a bit more expensive but it's worth the extra.
The whole hotel looks like an art gallery with many modern painting and photographies. The interiors of the rooms are very clean, modern and functional. The beds are very comfortable and you can ask for extra pillows or other goodies at the reception.
At check-in the hotel director will take the chance to say welcome in person. The service has always been flawless, very friendly and the employees will give you the impression to try to make everything happen for you.
The restaurant offers a great menu in the evening for a reasonable price and i believe the wine selection should be good (not a wine drinker).
For hotel guests the access to the Hamam is free of charge and definitively worth a visit. The interior i very stylish as all of the hotel, and the wet area is also very clean. Several employees are cleaning the area. The hotel also offers a outdoor Finish sauna which can be reserved for a small fee.
Breakfast buffet offers all you can imagine and a lot of local products. Nothing negative i could say about it.
Another observation i have made is that families with children are very welcome and the staff really leaves the impression that they are used to this. It seems like the all have a very natural way to interact with children. There is also a nursery which was frequently used during my say. Outside the hotel on the large meadow there is also playground.
The hotel organizes hiking trips and all kind of other activities.

Over all there is really nothing negative i could say about this hotel. The only thing is that the rooms have their price. But i guess you simply have to pay for quality.
