This is an excellent 3* hotel in the small but busy seaside resort of San Vito on an amazing long sandy beach on the NW tip of Sicily. I discovered it through a Sunday paper review of hotels with great beaches. The website is Italian but i was able to book it directly via email in English. It is a small family run hotel, spotlessly clean with AC and tastefully decorated. Beautiful old photographs of San Vito hang on the walls and a shadey courtyard behind serves as a breakfast area and evening restaurant. The food was excellent -better than 3*- Italian with North African influences - recommend the fish Couscous Ghibli -certainly best to book in the evening as open and popular with non-residents. The staff are v friendly and helpful with mostly very good English. It is very family friendly - children are adored! It is less than 5mins to both the beach and the town itself but the street was very quiet. No traffic is allowed in the centre and there is a good range of eating places to serve all tastes and price ranges. Whilst the beach was busy it was surprisingly quiet - mostly Italian and Sicilian families enjoying a traditional seaside holiday. There are a few pedaloes for hire, boat trips from the harbour, 'family' bicycles, fruit stalls, a patisserie and gelatario with ice cream to die for. As a couple we loved every minute there but would have happily taken our children there in the past. There is also plenty to do in the surrounding area in this largely undiscovered part of Sicily and Palermo airport is only just over an hour away. Go before it gets spoilt! MP, Winchester, UK
