August 27 was my second return visit to San Vito Lo Capo and
Hotel Miraspiaggia; first trip was September 07. It was a rather end of summer decision to go,
I saw photos of those drop-dead waters and had to return.
My main objective was to spend as much time in the sea as possible, a total chill out.
Having had an all out positive experience there
BTA (Before Trip Advisor), the first time, I was confidant in thinking
this trip would be equally as nice. I’m happy to report that this assumption
was confirmed. My stay there these past 10 days was quite perfect, with a new
twist, I stayed in one of the apartmenti’s up the hill on days 1-8 and the hotel
Days 9 and 10. Sr. Giuseppe had suggested one of the appartmenti and said I would
really like it. Having tried three rooms on visit 1, all changes made by him,
I knew that his opinion was well founded.
The Appartment:
• 2 bedrooms. clean clean clean.
• 3 terraces, the third of which I did not realize until the first nite when I opened up the wooden shutters. Unexpected surprise.
• Quiet. Just the sound of families talking .
• Nice linens on beds. That crunchy commercially pressed kind. Love it.
• Kitchen equipped with the essentials, nothing more, fine. Espresso pots, yea!
• Two linen dishcloths and a beautiful tablecloth were in one of the drawers, nice touch, authentic.
• Air conditioner, which I did use a couple nites, due to the mosquitoes.
• Mosquitoes only. Despite my having brought my own repellents, the bugs bit.
Purchase the local “Baylon”(?) plug in. It will work. 3.45 EUR
• Shower. Only caveat is that the water pressure in the shower was virtually non- existent. It did not bother me, but it could be an annoyance to most folks.
Despite saying I would not be preparing food, but eating out, I ended up purchasing things from
The locals at the end of the day and dining gloriously and simply at home each evening.
Day 8: I did not want to leave my residence, but it was time to go to the hotel.
The Hotel:
Standard room, clean clean clean. Same, even better linens
Pleasant, airy, and for the two nites, this relatively small room was fine.
Atmosphere:
The good staff of Miraspiaggia is nearly as awesome as its position on the Mediterranean. Sr. Giuseppe’s wonderful team is attentive and truly
seem to care about your well-being. Though a casual, easy vibe pervades,
I can tell you they are ‘On It’.
Ex: unbeknownst to me the airlines were about to strike the day before I was to leave,
Valentina alerted me and said they would be tracking the status of things.
And so they did, I did not have to worry.
Ex: Lovely Vito who helps at the beach as well as always being there at the hotel
at any time of day, came to my apartment the morning of my departure to pick up
my suitcase to take to the hotel. I had planned on wheeling it through town.
This had to have been pre scheduled, impressive.
Summation,
Miraspiaggia is a 3 star hotel with a 5 star value.
Bravo , until next time.
