I did a ton of research to identify the best beach in Italy, and based on my travels around the country, Sperlonga was the right choice. It is truly a wonderful, magical place, with warm, clear water and delicious food. There is loads of fantastic seafood, something my love and I both adore. The little cafes along the beach serve terrific caprese salad sandwiches, and their are great little gelato stands near the open air square where live musical performers play almost nightly during the summer.

The Virgilio offered a fantastic rate on one of the laterooms or lastminute sites, so we enjoyed a luxurious room for a very low cost. The breakfast was included and was very tasty. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat if I couldn't get a villa rental. I think it would be fun to have one's own place so that one could make as much noise with one's love as one wished...if you know what I mean. But if I had to choose a resort, I'd pick the Virgilio. Very nice staff, beautiful lodging, great location.

We (2 middle aged but relativly hip couples) have nothing but heaped praise for this hotel.

Good position about 150 yards/meteres from beach, modern, exceptionally clean, friendly and helpfull staff most of whom spoke at least a smattering of english and appreciated us trying to speak some Italian.

Rooms are very nice comfortable beds, plenty of room good adjustable aircon, nice balconies, we normally stay B & B but had a good deal on half board and the food was excellent, 4 courses Antipasti, primmi piati, secondi piatti & desert/fruit all delicious. Nice wine list with the house wine red & white at just 12 euro a bottle it was good tho we tried a couple of others. The buffet breakfast was copious and good, a huge choice hot & cold and being italy of course a good array of cakes!! lovely cuppacino + good expresso and hot water for tea on tap.

Lovely pool with nice comfy sunbeds and a jaccuzzi. So nice we never did lie on the beach - Oh yes and Sperlonga is lovely especially the old town ( a tip the shortest route is via Torre di Nobbio, about 30 yards up the rd from the lower town sq.

This is a great hotel. The only problem is they dont supply towels for use at the pool.
I however just used my room towels.
Sperlonga is a stunning place with beautiful beaches

We stayed in an attic room which was new and comfortable with great air conditioning. Ceiling sloped to the windows but it was not a problem. Hotel was close to the beach and a short walk uphill to the lovely heart of Sperlonga. Parking was free. Breakfast was large and varied by Italian standards.
