My wife and I decided to spend a day in Sperlonga and selected this hotel based on positive Trip Advisor reviews. The Virgilio Grand is a business hotel and probably does a bulk of its business in the summer when the beach is a larger draw; it was very quiet during our stay. The entire atmosphere of the hotel is very contemporary so if you are looking for "old world charm" this is not the place. The room was clean and well appointed; however it had a sloped ceiling (fortunately not concrete) which I bumped my head on a few times. The bed was very firm (typical for Italy) and was composed of two mattresses placed side by side (somewhat common), thus there is a seam in the middle. Ours was a smaller double room and had a shower, no tub. The staff was friendly and spoke enough English. There is no wi-fi in the rooms; only in the lobby (it is free of charge). Parking was free at the hotel and on the street since it was off-season. The included breakfast was average by European standards. This property also has a spa and gym for which I could find no prior reviews. We were quoted 20 euro for day use of the spa and 10 euro for the gym. We were permitted to look at the gym and it was very small and not worth 10 euro. We did not look at the spa. The beach and touristy part of town was a short walk from the hotel. The shoreline stretches for quite a distance and is a nice walk. Overall this is a nice property and we would stay here again, but we would probably explore other options as well.
