“Close to the airport but was a disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

At the last minute, I switched my booking from the Best Western Riviera to this Inn because they had a promotion. I'm not sure I did the right thing. We had two double rooms booked for our last night before a 6 a.m. flight (after our cruise).

We arrived about noon and I was initially pleased that they were going to let us check in early. It was downhill from there. My 75 y.o. mother in law was with us for a few hours after the cruise (she had a 8 pm flight out). Before we could even get the luggage in the room they were harrassing us for having five people instead of four. We emphatically explained (over and over again) that she would be leaving at dinnertime for her flight that she was absolutely NOT sleeping in the hotel. They would have none of it, insisted she can only be in the hotel lobby for 15 minutes and HAD TO GO! It was incredible. This meant shuffling our elderly relative off to the airport six hours early! We felt terrible about it.

On to the rooms -- all we can say is that they are clean and a large size. Our stay was in November and it wasn't actually cold outside, but the hotel had general heating on for every room, even though we didn't need it and complained about it. NO WAY too cool the rooms down. If you leave the patio door open, you get road noise and feel unsafe, but if you leave it closed the room was 80 degrees. You have no real control of temperature in your room and it made it difficult to sleep.

Bathroom was renovated and clean and there was a kitchenette but the overall room was depressing.

WiFi is free. You have to get a code from the front desk and it only lasts for five hours. Then you have to go get another code.

We did not have any breakfast as we departed at 4 a.m. for our 6 a.m. flight.

Shuttle service (third party) is VERY expensive -- given the hotel is 3-4 miles from the airport. Prices are 7.50 EUR per person, or 15.00 EUR for a single, or 12.50 EUR per person for off hours. They were 'kind' enough to give us 10 EUR per person for our 4 a.m. ride (40 EUR = about $60 USD for literally a five minute transfer). Taxis are even more money and they tell you they aren't reliable...

Neighborhood is so so and nothing really around there. We did walk to lunch and it was okay. There is a 'mini mart' for soda, snacks, and sandwiches nearby.

Hotel Club Isola Sacra is a couple of doors down, fwiw.

We were disappointed in general, it made for a depressing last night in Italy. Would definitely choose somewhere else in the future.

The hotel is very clean, quiet, friendly, tastefully decorated, the staff is adorable, breakfast generous, coffee good, and very close to Fiumicino Airport. I can heartily recommend it!

“a gem near the airport”

We stayed here prior to flying home from an Italian holiday.
We caught the train to the airport from Rome station.
We rang the hotel & a car arrived to transfer us to the hotel for 5 euro each within 20mins. We were able to check in from 1pm
The staff were welcoming, nothing was any trouble, transfers were booked to return to the airport very early the next morning so we weren't able to take advantage of the free breakfast.
The room was spacious & clean, access to our second floor room was by a lift and the mini bar was affordable.
There were many restaurants nearby, along with an interesting walk to a fully operation fishing port .
We expected our final night in Italy to be quiet & unremarkable it was quite the opposite.

“Over sold and under delivered”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011 via mobile

The service was below average from the moment we stepped inside the door. Although the staff were not rude they were slow and incompetent. The restaurant they recommended was terrible and checking out took 30 mins while the attendant tried to add up our mini bar tab (which was 1 beer and 1 soda). The shuttle service is expensive and came 5 mins late which isnt great when you're trying to catch a flight. Don't stay here unless everywhere else is full

“Very friendly place”

I stayed here for three of my first nights on an 11 day tour of Europe from Italy to Latvia. This was hands down the friendliest hotel staff I encountered. Breakfast WAS free and most hotels in Europe will charge you for wifi. The charge for wifi was like 5€ an hour. All other hotels we stayed at charge similar rates for wifi usage. The shuttle to and from the train station and airport run per request and waiting time is usually less that ten minutes. Compared to nightly rates in Rome central, this place is very affordable.
