We landed in this hotel in unusual circumstances, we had originally booked for a larger hotel in the area "Gouves Park" who had overbooked and transferred us into the Lavris.
They said that this arrangement was only necessary for one week of our stay, after which we could move back if we wanted.
We booked an All inclusive holiday as we had done this for the past few years and found the offering at Lavris good if not spectacular.
After going all inclusive to Cuba, we had come to expect the world, but unlike Cuba this holiday did not cost the world so we expected less.
The All inclusive bar ran from 10am until 11pm after which drinks were chargeable (half price for all-inc guests). This was ok, as after 11pm I often went to the bar next door where a large beer (Mythos) and all cocktails were €2 each, bargain! The proprietor there is ace!
The only issue I had with the bar was that you could only get one drink at once, and the barmen became a little inquisitive / funny when asking for more than one. Surely, when you pay for all inclusive, you should get all you want and when you want!
There were various times during the day when you could not get food (normally for 1 hour either side of meal times.)
The restaurant food was excellent and varied.
The houskeeping service was inconsistent, sometimes average and mostly excellent.
The family owners and management were very friendly, it was clear they wanted us to enjoy our holiday.
The entertainment was cool as well, Mario makes the holiday unforgetable, especially if you get involved in his shows.
The rest of the hotel was always kept clean and overall our stay was pleasurable and we would return to this hotel if we went back to Crete.
I think the fact we stayed at this hotel for the full 2 weeks, considering we had the option of returning to the Gouves Park where we originally had booked after one week proves testimony to the fact we enjoyed this hotel.
