“Not such a bad place..”

We Arrived at this hotel for 2 weeks All inclusive and had read lots of reviews that had made us a little worried!

We were greeted at reception but a very friendly chap who answered all our questions.

We were put in a room in the other part of the hotel which was NOT 4* at all, it was the most basic room I have ever stayed in, but it was clean and the bed was good, There were tables and chairs outside our door so that we could sit in the garden which was nice. for the only complaint to be that the room was basic, i think is pretty good going.. its not like there were bugs in the room or it was dirty! I dont go on holiday to sit in the room anyway, so for me it was fine.

The pools were nice, lots of sun loungers in good spots. The bar staff very lovely and friendly and really seemed to make such an effort.

I wasnt expecting the food to be any good after reading everyones reviews on here, but I must say that actually it was very good, lots of choice and always plenty! They made a real effort on certain nights where the chef set up his table and cooked things in front of you! The breakfast too had lots of choice and the waiting staff were very afficient and helpful and quick to take unwanted plates. Also around 3pm you could get cakes and ice cream from the bars. We did not go hungry at all.

We ate out a few nights just because we wanted to taste the local food and the couple of places we went to, we were made to feel very welcome and the food was great, cant remember the names but if you get to the beach rd and turn right and walk down to where the swing chairs are.. its just there.. lovely cocktails too!

Also the little convenience store around the corner is run by a lovely old man who we had many morning chats with, he was very welcoming and very interesting too he makes his own honey and i must say it was LOVELY we took many jars home!

I would also recommend taking some excursions. We did not book through the hotel as we found it cheaper up the Rd but we did have a good few days out.. but if you dont like heights then I would check where you are going doesnt involve driving up the mountian because BOY was that scary hahaa.. but the drivers do that trip many times a day so they know what they are doing but driving for 1/2 an hour UP a mountain does have some amazing views!

I dont think there was anything wrong with this place at all. No it is not a luxury hotel but it is good for a cheap AI break and has lovely staff and is clean. What more do you want?

“Relaxing holiday at a lovely hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

Having read reviews of this hotel meant we went with a lot of trepidation. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised. A quick friendly check in. Our room was in the main hotel with a lovely view of the sea & pool. We would admit the room was not 4 star but it was clean and adequate with towels and linen changed frequently.
The restaurant was run very efficiently by Mr G. & his staff. Plenty of choice. The Sunday evening meals were the best as they were traditional Cretan evenings with real Greek food although we did hear complaints "why are they serving Greek food". Why go abroad if you don't want to try the local cuisine.
The leisure facilities were excellent. 2 large outdoor pools with plenty of loungers, an excellent children's pool & a lovely indoor pool.
The beach was just across the road and was very sheltered by the harbour wall, the only complaint was that we don't agree you should have to pay for sun beds on the private beach if you are on a all inclusive holiday.
What was nice to see was that the owner was making sure everyone was having a good holiday. It was not beneath him to even clear the tables of dirty crockery.
The area outside the hotel was quite scruffy but we think is because of the economy of Greece, which was a shame.

“Better than we expected”

Our first room was not the 4 star standard we had expected from the website, but not as bad as some people's feedback.Staff were helpful in moving us as soon as somewhere else became available. All rooms were clean, although they would benefit from an update. Hotel and facilities were comfortable, we preferred the pool with the swim up bar as it was less crowded. Restaurant facilities ably managed by Giannis and his friendly and helpful team, food varied and well presented considering the number of people catered for, I had a different salad every day,had to remember not to smother it in the lovely yogurt based dressing!my husband enjoyed the fresh breads .Everyone spoke English, so lack of Brit company not a problem for us.
We used the regular bus servicefrom the top of the High Street to go into Hiraklion a couple of times and hired a car to see a bit more of the island.
Found it difficult to engage with animation the team, but overall a lovely holiday and we would definately go back.

Room Tip: Ask to be in the main building with a sea view.

“NOT WHAT I PAID FOR!”

This was an all inclusive package for 2 adults. It was confirmed on the 9th August 2011 for a 7 night stay from 28th September 2011. Confirmation stated pool or garden view.
We arrived around midnight and were told that the hotel had been overbooked and were directed to the old annexe across the road. Next morning we looked out to discover the view was a rubbish dump. On complaining, staff admitted we should not have been given that room but one in the main building. This was never rectified.
My impression was that priority would always be given to groups rather than individual bookings.Having said that, when our flight was delayed by a day due to strike, management did agree to give us another night, all inclusive. This was mainly due to receptionist, Stavros,
who was evidently embarrassed by our treatment.

“Dissapointing”

Recently got back from a week staying at this hotel.
First impression very clean and modern that all changed when entering the room supposedly "superior" this room was far from superior. Very disappointing. The mattresses on the beds were solid if you wanted an average night sleep we had to get three blankets to put on the mattresses. The beds are very low, the bedrooms are very basic and does not look anything like the superior rooms on the internet. The only nice thing about the room was the lovely view over looking the sea.
The food was great if you just liked eating carbs for a week!.... again very disappointing we ended up eating out most days.
The best restaurant we found was called ATLANTIS, the staff was lovely made you feel so welcomed. Food was reasonably priced and the quality of the food was great. Highly recommended. It was hard to find a place where they cooked the meat to perfection but this is it. The portion size was more than enough and all the food was fresh.
The hotel swimming pools were big and clean with plenty of sun beds to spare but it was the end of season.
The staff at the hotel were lovely very approachable and friendly the receptionists were so helpful with everything.
The surrounding areas of the hotel was a little quiet but again it was the end of season.
Unfortunately we would not go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Double check the superior is the more modern room and not the old superior rooms.
