“Love Love and More Love”

I don't know which to put first: Casa Fontana, Ron and Susi, Barga, or the Garfagnana itself. All were stupendous and immensely surprising. Ron and Susi could not have been more welcoming and helpful, providing maps, directions, dinner reservations, local insights, wine in the garden, and their incredible breakfast spreads. Don't come here looking for red carpet concierge hotel service. This is a small B&B in a small town; no TVs, no fancy attitudes. Just huge heart in a great setting. We both fell in love with Barga and the Garfagnana immediately. The area is gorgeous, the people are extremely friendly, and the food is amazing. Make sure to take a drive into the mountains, and make sure to get as lost as possible. Thank you Ron and Susi for a PERFECT visit!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a mountain view.

“The Perfect Place to Relax and Unwind”

Casa Fontana is a delightful B&B where you can truly put your feet up, breathe the fresh mountain air, and forget about life for awhile! My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in October and loved every minute of our stay. As so many reviewers have already noted, Suzi and Ron are the most gracious hosts, who can't do enough to help you. They have plenty of great advice to offer on walks you can take, places to eat, where to get the best pastries in Tuscany, transport options to other towns, etc. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable, with a lovely little balcony that looked over part of the town and the mountains in the distance. One of the great features of Casa Fontana is the garden where you can sit and relax with a glass of wine or a beer (there is an honor system where you can take what you need and leave money in a tin can in the kitchen) and enjoy the peaceful surroundings -- and Suzi's amazing vegetable garden! We were lucky enough to be there when the grapes in the garden were at their peak, and we loved picking them straight off the vine....they were so sweet and delicious!! All in all, this is a little gem of a B&B. We really didn't want to leave!

“I Can't Think of Another Superlative!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

As the title says, I think just about every superlative to describe Ron and Susi, and their b&b Casa Fontana have already been used by previous reviewers. I will simply put it this way, do yourself a favour, just go to Casa Fontana, and you will see what everyone is talking about is true in every sense. I can back up MikeR1956's review as we stayed there at the same time as him and his lovely wife, and not forgetting the other lovely folk who made our holiday such a success, apart from the heavy cold me and my wife had while we were there.

“Walking the historic trails my grandfather trod over 100 years ago”

My objective for this trip as a first time solo traveler was to become intimately familiar with Barga and surrounding villages, to search the cemeteries and walk the donkey trails used by my grandfathers long ago.
I could not have made a better choice than Casa Fontana. Traveling alone can be awkward but not with such graceful hosts as Ron and Suzi. Ron's trails and maps I used extensively as others have reported, a true adventure with great restraunt destinations. Ron is a true Italophile and is very knowledgeable about the areas unique history. If family genealogy is important to you that is just one more reason to stay here.
One evening Ron and Suzi invited me as their guest to a special immigration event in the piazza. In addition to great food and music I met the mayor and priest of the Duomo. I felt quite honored to be a part of it and their hospitality.
