Just returned from a six night stay at the Fairwinds Hotel. The hotel is in a lovely quiet location set back from the main road offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. There is adequate car parking at the hotel. Every area that I saw within the hotel was very well maintained and clean. The rooms were cleaned daily, towels and toiletries replaced and I always felt that after a day out, I was returning to a properly cleaned and serviced room. The beakfasts were excellent, piping hot freshly cooked food and plenty of choice of cereals, juice, fresh fruit etc, Every day we were given an extra item such as a pancake, scone, croissant, muffin etc too. The (single) room was en-suite which had a large shower cubicle with plenty hot water all day, remote wall mounted TV with limited Freeview, tea & coffee, plenty storage, plenty electric sockets, coat hooks and a comfy armchair. The hosts were always polite and jovial and I was made to feel welcome at all times. There was a relaxing lounge area in the conservatory, which is where meals are served and an area with board games, honesty bar etc.
To give a balanced and fair review I would have to say that my room, being in the area above the kitchens did experience food smells on a daily basis, which wasn't ideal and also £300 for six nights in a smallish room with single bed (some 'single' accommodation offers a double bed) was on the slightly expensive side. I did also note a faulty drawer handle, loose shower fixing and (on one of the days) insufficient loo roll (!) BUT all this has to be weighed up against all the pluses the hotel has to offer and I would certainly consider staying there again.
