“All these reviews are spot-on - it IS the perfect peaceful friendly place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2011

What an absolute find! Peaceful location (red squirrels, ducks, rabbits, a Wellingtonia tree) and the hosts, Alison and Lindsay, are almost straight out of a fairy tale! Warm and friendly, open and trusting and the attention to detail is amazing (my husband had his jumper, which he'd thrown over a chair, neatly folded - he doesn't get that at home!). The food was just perfect - well actually, very generous, buy hey, we were on holiday and it was just too good not to eat it. Lovely fresh veg cooked to perfection, imaginative and tasty combinations - I could eat there for weeks! We had a busy day at Loch Garten and they kindly worked around our comings and goings so we ate early at breakfast and dinner - this was really appreciated. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Lucy is just a bonus! Thank you ladies - perfect hosts.

“Unexpected hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2011

The Fairwinds Hotel offered several pleasant surprises: The bathroom in our room featured a large soaking tub, although in a design quirk the sink was located in our bedroom and not in the bathroom itself. During our stay we finally saw the elusive Scottish red squirrel thanks to a well-placed bird-feeder on a giant redwood tree right next to the building. But by far the best surprise was the food. We ended up staying in for dinner because we were tired and didn’t feel like getting back in the car to hunt down a restaurant and Lindsey, the chef, prepared one of the best meals we had during our two weeks in Scotland. They offer a three-course prix fixe menu and the food was fresh and expertly prepared (bonus: the first green vegetables we had seen in quite a while). The décor of the hotel is somewhat old-fashioned but overall, our room was spacious and comfortable and the hosts, Lindsay and Alison, were friendly and helpful. We would definitely love to stay here again.

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2011

Ideal location for visiting the area. My wife and I spent three nights at the Fairwinds and had a really good time.We got a warm welcome on arrival and our room was spotless and very comfortable. The food was excellent (as my growing waist confirmed). Lindsey and Allison (now assisted by Lucy) run a comfy and welcoming establishment and we will be back in the future.

“Hidden gem in the Highlands with faultless service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

Stayed for 2 nights and wanted to thank the owners Alison & Lynsey for their great hospitality.
Thanks for the warm reception (when was the last time you checked into a hotel and they did not even have to look up your name?) to the specially made kedergee, the comfy bed in the newly refurbished rooms, thanks for the tips on wild like spotting for my husband and the good wishes on depaerture - everything was of interest to them - no wonder they have so many repeat visitors.
Forget the anonimity of the soulless hotels in Aviemore, head to Carrbridge and the warth of these professional hosts.

“A haven of tranquility in the bustle of life.”

We are now considered regulars at the Fairwinds Chalets. The peace is healing, the view as we have breakfast is calming and the ducks came to join us. The accommodation is spotless, warm, comfortable and fully kitted out. Lindsay and Alison welcomed us like friends and were superb when we had some car issues late in the week - thankyou ladies.
Stay there - you will not be dissapointed. There is so much to see and do, if you want to - or just sit and look. Hope to see you in the summer ladies.
