This Premier Inn is on the main road just by the entrance to Newcastle Airport, about five miles north-east of Newcastle city centre. It has adequate car parking. You could once walk the hundred metres directly from the hotel to the terminal building, but now that there's a new Hilton right in the way, it's just a little less straightforward.
Our check-in (at a slack time on a Tuesday afternoon) was trouble-free and prompt. With nice smiles too: all the staff here, whether at reception, in the bar, or cleaning your room, are friendly (just occasionally artificially friendly, but nobody would mind).
The room set a high standard for a budget hotel. It looked newly decorated. Everything worked properly and was clean, and the large bed was comfortable. There was no noticeable traffic noise (neither aircraft nor motor vehicles) to disturb our sleep, and the lift was quiet. There was some internal noise from doors loudly slammed by self-closers and from late-evening clumping feet on the hard floors. Voices in the corridor occasionally, too: but you didn't expect hushed five-star luxury at budget price, did you?
Dinner in the bar or restaurant was perfectly satisfactory. Expect good-quality pub food, with quick friendly service, and you shouldn't be disappointed. On the other hand, breakfast was more variable. The quick friendly service was still there, but the coffee was sometimes thin, and the bacon slices varied so much in size from day to day that we wondered whether kitchen supplies were adequately maintained.
This seems a thoroughly recommendable airport hotel. We would return.
