I stayed at Hotel Riviera from the 22nd August for 1 week with my 8 friends. On arrival we were impressed with rooms B6 and B12, they were both large with kitchenettes which was a bonus for an all inclusive hotel. Although very dated and miss-matched we were happy for the budget price we paid. Please note you can ask for air-con free of charge but you have to ask for it, we realised this 3 days into our stay as they will only give you the remote if you ask for it (deposit only required). We also had problems with some of the lights and plug sockets not working but when reported to the hotel reception they were fixed the next morning.
The facilities were ok, buffet food served for breakfast, lunch and tea with plenty of food but like any budget all inclusive hotel it did get very repetitive. In the bar there was almost a constant queue for drinks in the evening and we were allowed a max of two small plastic cups at one time. The bar snacks in the day consisted of plain cakes or a sandwich could be requested (a piece of plastic cheese in two slices of bread!)Ice-creams were a plus point in the bar! The entertainment each night was good (magicians, animal shows etc). There is also crazy golf but while we were there the grass was overgrown it around it and parts broken.
The hotel has two good sized pools but they were always full of leaves due to the massive trees over the side - I realised this can't be helped but it did make the pools dirty unfortunately. Like any hotel, we had to get to the pool early to get any sun beds and most of the ones that were left with were broken.
The location was good, Peppers bar up the road was brilliant and the hotel is 5 mins from the ferry to San Antonio, the beach is also only over the road.
The problem came with the security of the hotel, our ground floor room B6 was broken into in the afternoon while we were at the pool. It appeared the intruders forced the dated patio doors, we reported to the reception immediately but due to an arrival of guests it was very busy and they even served people for golf clubs before they would speak to us. They said the police would not come to the hotel and we would have to get a taxi to the police station ourselves (although money had been taken!). The police even told us that "this happens a lot at Hotel Riviera" You would think the solution would be to have a safe in the room but unfortunately on arrival and each of the four mornings since the staff were not able to find the keys to the safes in our rooms so we could not use them (this seemed very convenient if you carry on reading!). The hotel staff did not seem bothered we had been broken into and were very unhelpful in a stressful situation.
After being moved from the ground floor into B15 on our last but one day we waited for the maids to finish cleaning the rooms as we were still getting ready in there when they arrived. Once they had finished we noticed one of our case keys was missing from the balcony table, we found the maid and asked if she had seen it she emptied her pockets of keys, cash (notes and coins) and also had one of my friends new bikini’s!! They did not speak English so would not talk to us but it did make us question who may have actually been responsible for stolen the items.
The hotel is not secure; club reps are always around the pool area and due to A-C Block rooms being secluded anyone can wander in off the road and cctv cameras have the wires pulled out would not be any help. It would probably be a different story in the main hotel complex but I can’t comment on that.
I hope you will see I am not being unfair in my review, just truthful, this is an average dated hotel and you need to go with the possibility of being broken into. We did not let it spoil our holiday and had a fantastic time in Ibiza.
Room Tip: Ensure you are not on the ground floor if you want to avoid being broken into. Also ask for air-con...
