“Fortnight in September 2011”

We read reviews from people in advance and having experienced the hotel, we can only wonder what some people expect when they go away.

The hotel was spotlessly clean in every area - I spent many years in hospitality, so went looking: no complaints. Maids and cleaners were in general evidence, and busy, at all hours.

Food was routinely fresh, varied, tasty, inventive and well stocked; with great local produce - fish and vegetable dishes.

Staff were plentiful in number; always happy to help; always available.

The entertainers were a magnificent troupe - present throughout the hotel from breakfast to late at night; co-ordinating and presenting a mix of their own (mainly) and professional shows. They were also seen helping guests with luggage; chatting round the pool to people; and daily running fitness classes; in-pool activities; and poolside games and quizzes. The balance between invitation / availability, and OTT was spot on.

It is true that (literally) 99% of the guests were French and elderly - but this is only a problem if you let it become one (as some reviewers seem to have). We accepted the hotel therefore had to cater to this market, so fine.

DON'T be put off by your arrival. The hotel is VERY near a very busy dual carriageway. But - amazingly - once inside the hotel area, you would never know it and we'd forgotten within an hour.

10 minute walk to the beach, which has a lengthy and very clean strip of wide walkway; random exercise kit for anyone to hop on; and a selection of bars and restaurants. The walk there and back is pleasant enough, taking you - in part - through some lovely streets and areas.

The one negative we had - we let it wash over - has nothing to do with the hotel, but the French guests. There was no malice, but they appeared consistently - culturally, we believed - to be rude, boorish; with no sense of queueing and happy to barge in...........and don't ask them if the chair at their table's free, you just get a filthy look. This wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't all-pervasive, but they appeared - as a group - to have a rude mob mentality. This behaviour was confirmed by a young solo English male there on a brief stay: he said he works throughout Europe, across several French-speaking countries, and this behaviour is the norm.
BUT..............DON'T be put off going here by that. Ignore them and, believe me, they'll ignore you.

Small; charming; clean; quaint - we'd recommend it

Room Tip: we asked for a pool room, with a view. we were given a courtyard view room - which we far preferred...

“Beautiful setting and facilities. Practise your French!”

A friend and I spent just five days for a peaceful Easter break here and found it to be absolutely beautiful. It has a small Andalusian village feel about it's two story winding pathway "hotel". The all inclusive food was impressive and varied, (check out the speciality dish each evening). The pool was large (too cold) and had good child facilities at one end and a great bar/ entertainment area at the other.
Reception staff were very helpful and friendly although English was not their strength.
There were lots of French tourists and French reps everywhere and I spent more time speaking French than Spanish!, but this only really affected us adversely for the evening entertainment.
The pool was too close to the main road ( I believe they are landscaping to fix this now) and on our last night there was a serious fire in the bar. Check to see if this has been fixed.

Have just returned from this hotel after staying here for 10 days. Me & my partner are both 22. Very few English at this hotel..! All entertainment is in French (and awful!!!) and they do not speak a word of English and will not even attempt to talk to you unless you speak French! very very VERY rude! One Spanish lady (Carmen) was very helpful and made us feel welcome. All hotel and restaurant staff very friendly & polite. Maid service was very good & hotel very clean & tidy. No inflatables allowed in the pool..?!! Would not recommend this hotel to anyone who is English as you will be ignored for your whole stay here.. unless you speak french!

“Was okay but probably won't go back again.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

I came here with family; we hadn’t been on a family holiday for a few years as the kids do their own thing now. We usually go to Benalmadena and Torremolinos way, if we head to Spain.

This was the first time the family went on an All Inclusive holiday. On arrival the car park was full and it took us a while to find a space, there was not many parking spaces and we drove around in the day so coming back meant we had to squeeze on to the curb.

The reception staffs were friendly and once our keys were handed over, we received a map of the courtyard. I must say it is a pretty place to look at and the courtyard was beautiful. Our flats were next to each other, above a steep stair case. It’s not too bad but if you are at an all inclusive and tend to make the most of the facilities, it isn't fun tackling those stairs to your room drunk, but hey – self inflicted.

The hotel was very French orientated which it did not mention anywhere, they were rude – even to staff – but we didn’t cross paths with them and kept ourselves to ourselves. We did meet a couple in their mid twenties who we got on with, from England too, we often met up by the pool or during the evenings – so there were some nice people there.

*All inclusive restaurant*
The layout of the restaurant was nice and also part of it was slightly set out in some gardens. The food was alright for a buffet but we're not fussy eaters, we get fed! They also had a ‘snack period’ during the day, hot dogs and small random stuff. You could also eat in the sister hotel next door – but it was like a busy school canteen – although they did have more variety of food, but it was bigger.

*Facilities*
There was quite a few facilities, the swimming pool was big and well kept with plenty of sun beds but we went just before the busy period. Next to it was the bar with plenty of tables under shelter (big gazebo I think). The bar served drinks in small plastic cups, so you couldn’t get a pint; although they did serve San Miguel so that wasn’t too bad. The bar also had two table tennis tables and you could hire the ball and bat from reception for a deposit. We always got our deposit back because we returned everything back to them in good condition. Behind the pool was also a squash court, although I do not know what it was like as only my brother and father went. There was also mini shops in the complex where you can buy bits and pieces, munchies etc.

*Entertainment*
The entertainment in the hotel was terrible, it was again very French orientated and the majority of it was aimed at children. Hence why we ended up playing drinking games and getting drunk (bearing in mind some of my family are not big drinkers!) Which is why the steep stairs was not a bonus but that’s our own fault. Although it was quite entertaining seeing my little brother falling up them (as it was his first time drinking).

*Surroundings*
The beach was nearby but quite a bit of a walk as the back streets of the hotel were quite maze like – however we drove there. The beach wasn’t that amazing as it was very stony as oppose to sand. There isn’t really much to do outside of the hotel, there is a nearby supermarket. But we often drove out of the area to do stuff.
