As other eviewers have said, this is a very basic, dated, tired apartment block in need of a major refurbishment. Points in its favour are the size of the apartments - livingroom/kitchen, bedroom, balcony are all huge; friendly staff and excellent location a couple of minutes walk from the beaches at Praia da Rocha and Tres Castelos (really atmospheric beach). Our apartment was clean and had lots of hot water.
Negative points are all the niggling things - no corkscrew/bottle opener (although the receptionist did run down to the bar for me to get my bottle of wine opened!); curtains that don't quite fit, dark corridors, strange wiring system, dim lightbulbs, old furniture. But hey1 You're not paying a fortune to stay there and you are on the doorstep of one of the finest beaches ibn Europe.
On facilities alone this would be a 2 star review, but size, location and friendliness of staff means it deserves a 3 star rating.

Stayed here first 10 days in Sept and cant fault it at all, the apartments are really spacious, seperate bed/bath and living room/kitchen with sofa bed in, balcony good size, yes it was basic and a little dated but when u are self catering what more do u want coz u spend most of your time out in the resort and for the price u pay i dont know how anyone can grumble, towelswere changed every 2 days and bed once a week, didnt actually go in the pool as the beach was only over the road but it looked fine. The resort itself was really good, loads of bars to choose from and restaurants, Sitting Bull Steakhouse & Hollywood Steak House were gorgeous and portion sizes big! we also ate at Atlantis and Titanic which were also really nice, most bars during the day the lager was 1 euro a pint and then varied from 2-3 euros on a night,the beach was fab and so clean and big, would def go back to Praia Da Rocha and would recommend this time of year as still really hot and still pretty busy so always a good atmosphere on a night, and would def stay at Club Arcos again.

Myself and 3 girls are just back froma weeks holiday (11thsep-18thsep) we had a ball!! The hotel was clean big and did the job - the room were dated but really who cares. They were big and clean and thats all we cared about.
The hotel is 30seconds away from beach and all the shops, resurants and nightlife - is a smallish strip but more than enough to keep you sorted for a week. The pubs/clubs are open til 6/7am and are great craic - everyone in portugal was friendly and fun.
We had a great tiem and the reviews slating the hotel or location are clearly by poeple who expect 5 stars but only paid for 3.
If you are looking for a beautiful beach, nice resturants and a good few wee pleaces to get a drink at night this is the place. There are a few Irish bars also - while craic when the sun goes down.
Us girls had a great holiday - one of our best :)

after reading some reviews especially regarding cleanliness was a bit aprehensive ,but was welcomed by friendly receptionist,apartment was big, very clean,had lots of towels provided,cleaner came 3 times during week,pool area ok,but needs some new sunbeds,location excellent minutes from strip and great beaches,would stay again,had corner apartment with large balcony.staff always polte on reception.
