We booked this condo through RCI so I can not comment on value. This property is attached to the Pestana Viking, where we checked in, and went for dinner, and used their indoor pool. I was told during the high season Porches Praia has its own check in and its own outdoor pool. Even so, the Viking (Pestana staff) was outstanding in every respect. We espcially took advantage of nightly live music, even in the off season.

Our two bedroom condo was very nice. The kitchen, although small and dated, was perfect for our needs. No dishwasher. There was a large living room / dining room area with TV. The master suite was large with its own bath and own door onto the balcony and TV. The second bedroom had two twin beds and plenty of storage, located street side. The second bath was just outside that bedroom. Our balconey overlooked the ocean.

Outside was a path that lead to everyewhere. Left fork to the Italian Restaurant on site, right fork to the beach or the Viking. Another fork took you up to the Lord's Bar and Aquamar Restaurant (not part of the resort). Walks were less than 5 minutes but perhaps difficult for seniors or baby strollers. But if you're in this part of Portugal, get used to walking up hill.

Resort can be considered self contained with much to do onsite but we used it equally well as a central location to tour the towns around us. For reference, its exactly 1 hour drive from the resort to Sagres (point of Portugal) in the far Southwest using N125 (non-motorway).
By the way, you will need a car to anything but the closest places. There is a regular resort shuttle that can get you to the main road and the closest town (Amacao de Pera). Then you could take the bus, which I saw regularly on the main roads. I still recommend a car. The closest grocery is a 3 minute car ride or a 30 minute walk.

Overall we had a great week. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The condo was comfortable and adequately equipped. Still remembering our first lunch on the balconey, sunny, crisp, overlooking the ocean. Just lovely.

We have been visiting these apartments for the last 3 years. We visited for the first time in 2008 when on holiday in Albefura and were immediately impressed not only with the apartments on offer but with the fact that we could use the facilities of the neighbouring Pestana Viking Hotel. We went back for a second time whilst on holiday and decided to purchase under Pestana's holiday ownership scheme which is a little like time share but you only buy for 12 years. You can change your apartment for another resort if you like but after looking around the rest of the Algarve we always end up staying at our own apartment.We only go for a week but we feel at home as soon as we arrive and we don't have to spend the first few days finding our way around. Our apartment is on the first floor with a beautiful view (apartments are only two storey anyway). The pool reserved for apartment guests is quieter and ideal for just relaxing although the pools at the main hotel are equally good and the indoor pool is ideal for an early morning swim or jacuzzi.The nearby cove is just a few steps down to the beach and the beach bar opens from around 9.30am for daytime snacks and in the evening transforms into a lovely retaurant serving "catch of the day" (the local fishermen actually use this beach so you can't get much fresher!). There are a few good restaurants around the resort but if you want to venture out, Armacao de Pera is a short 5 minute drive or a 25 minute walk away and has much improved since we first came with considerable money spent on improving the promenade and introducing a pedestrianisation scheme to many of the narrow streets. You can eat as expensively or as reasonably as you like with the cheaper restaurants being set back off the seafront. What is nice is the fact that the area is popular with the locals which keep the prices competetive We have only just returned home and are already looking forward to next year

We were let down by a travel agent who went into administration and just managed to book this apartment at the last minute. What a pleasant surprise. It was advertised as a garden view but we got a sea view. The room was well decorated, clean and had comfortable furniture. The kitchen was well equipped. Nice location. It is a bit shappy at the back but that does not matter. A pity the weather was not better.

We arrived about 10:00am and our room was not ready until about 2:00pm, which was fine so we were able to hang around and check out the facilities at the Pestana Viking Resort, which were typical of a Pestana 4* Hotel. The Pool area was crowded and there were no free sun beds and packed with children. Our actual accommodation was a one bedroomed apartment on the ground level with a terrace and garden area which was great.
We spent most of our time at the Pool for Pestana Porches residents only, it was small, but quieter and a bit more refined. We hired a motorbike for 4 days as there was not a huge selection of amenities nearby within walking distance. We had great fun travelling up and down the Algarve coast line stopping off and various towns for a bit of site seeing. Transport is a must. However, for the evening there was a few very good restaurants within walking distance if you don't mind climbing up steep hills.
All in all we loved the accommodation and had a great holiday.
