We stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary. We are lucky to be frequent 5 star travelers and this was the first time without our 3 yr old and 8th old for a few nights break. The grounds are absolutely stunning, streams and beautiful flowers. The beach is private and quiet. All pools were incredibly kept and this for this and the service give five star. The food was okay, not great. The lunch time menu was simple but not outstanding. The evening menu was good but we ended up eating twice at Vila vita opposite. The rooms fine nice bathroom and lovely sea view. We would recommend for couples as the place being out of half term was empty! However I only saw 1 baby. We looked at kids club which looked good for young ones. However the numerous steps meant not buggy friendly nor wheelchair friendly. I also think our 3 year old would play havoc amongst the calibre of high class guests here. I prefer the layout etc here and rooms rather than vila vita but the restaurants better at Vila vita. We were greeted with champagne and chocolates one night which was lovely. I would 100% recommend it's a proper 5 star equivalent as that in Dubai. Whereas other 5 stars in Europe are not.

If you are lucky enough to go to Vilalara it is truly a magical place. ( Not too crowded - a lot of people do the Thalasso treatments). Three beautiful pools and a stunning beach. All set in mature colourful gardens. A good gym, tennis courts and kids club. If you want to have a real holiday book in here. Great for couples or families. Relax here and enjoy the comfort and superb scenery. Easy to get to - 30 mins from Faro Airport. A really amazing place if you want to get away to somewhere incredibly special.

The location of this hotel is truly spectacular. It sits about 200 feet above the beach in a break in the cliffs. The main pool, restaurant and bar look out over the sea which was azure and merged with a cloudless sky in the week of our visit. The resort sits in lush well maintained gardens and seemed uncrowded the week we were there although I suspect it was actually running at close to full capacity. Bar and restaurant staff were friendly although not always particularly attentive. The breakfast buffet was generally OK but possibly did not have quite the variety that you would expect in this category of hotel e.g. limited choice of bread, only a couple of types of cheese, only pre-prepared branded yoghurt. We did not eat in the restaurant as prices seemed steep at 46 euros for a three course set dinner with only a very restricted choice at each course. However there are several restaurants in the immediate vicinity serving excellent fresh seafood at very reasonable prices. The rooms were slightly tired and overall I would describe them as comfortable, rather than luxurious. The air conditioning was more effective than I would generally expect to find, insofar as it was possible to calibrate it easily to a comfortable setting. However what was described at the time of booking as a junior suite is actually just a large room and I felt misled to some extent as regards this. There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel and this was a definite plus.

We stayed four nights at this lovely place. We had a room with garden view. This room was grand with a very beautiful bathroom.

The resort was very relaxed and quiet. The ideal spot to chill down!

Initially we booked for three nigs, but during the stay decided to extend for one day longer.

Would certainly come back.
