I have travelled extensively and NEVER in my travels have I been treated with such disdain. We booked the hotel by telephone - a mistake - as the receptionist Sr. Bento (who incidentally took the booking) - had not recorded the booking and hence when we arrived late afternoon the hotel was fully booked. Whilst we were trying to explain to Sr. Bento when we had booked etc., a person kept pushing in front of us and talking to the receptionist (completely ignoring our presence and not apologising for butting in!) We subsequently found after asking to speak to someone in authority that this person was in fact the hotel director(!!) Sr Mario Monteiro?. He listened (albeit impatiently) and said that we should have booked in writing!! - said that he did not want to accept bookings through 'a vida e bela' anymore - berated the receptionist - told him it was his problem to sort it out and turned his back on us. I requested that he did not turn his back on me to which her responded 'I am not working or talking to you'. We will report this hotel and especially this director through appropriate channels, in my view neither of the persons involved should be facing the public. Just as an aside, which at least gave us a laugh, when I asked for a Shandy (Panache) he said 'is it ok with coca cola?' as we do not have anything else!!!! Classic 4 star service! - just who rates these places?
