“A delightful place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

My husband and I recently returned from a trip to Italy during which one place we stayed was Antica Casa dei Rassicurati in Montecarlo, Italy. This delightful B & B is run by Gabriel and Debora - and they do a great job. The Inn is ideally located between Lucca and Florence in an old walled medieval village. There are excellent restaurants within walking distance and the village is a great place to sit with a glass of wine and watch the people go by. The Inn is quiet and spotlessly clean and Gabriel and Debora are delightful hosts. We highly recommend this Inn.

“An ideal B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2009

Chiara, the owner, is the perfect hostess, always ready with information but never obtruding. In particular she knows which restaurants and wine-bars in the tiny town of Montecarlo are open on which nights. Highlight of the otherwise varied breakfast was homemade fig jam and honey from her relatives in the mountains of the Garfagnana to the north.

“delightful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2009

Charming hotel, spotlessly clean, and well situated for visitng Pisa and Florence by car.
The proprietor Chiara is an endless source of information and does everything to make your stay memorable. The breakfasts are wonderful served with a friendly smile. Not all rooms are en suite so specify on reservation. Montecarlo is small and pretty and there is at least one excellent restaurant nearby.

“A gracious hostess and a pleasant experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2009

Montecarlo makes a lovely base for exploring in Lucca, Firenze, Pisa and other scenic areas in Tuscany, and Antica Casa dei Rassicurati is a comfortable place to stay. The breakfast features homemade cakes and jam. We came in early April, when the mornings still had a bit of chill, and we enjoyed the ambiance and warmth of a glowing wood fire in the fireplace. Chiara is a gracious and simpatica host. Please be sure to arrive by 8 p.m. or else call ahead to make other arrangements to check in, as Chiara does not live in the b&b, and you’ll feel bad if you make her wait around for latecomers as we did. It is best to have a car when staying in Montecarlo, as it’s about 2 kilometers to the San Salvatore/Montecarlo train station. The roads around Montecarlo are easy to navigate, although if you are going to Firenze, it’s best to drive to a nearby town and take a train, as it’s not easy to park in Firenze.

“Loved the Casa dei Rassicurati”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2008

We spent 4 glorious days in the Casa dei Rassicurati in March 2004. Our goal was to *really* get away. The owners were wonderful welcoming women, very concerned that we needed to get out of their town and see the sights, but we had already seen the sights, and needed a "zona di relax," as the Italians call it. We walked and walked, attached ourselves to a tour visiting the castle, shopped at the tiny grocer's, and ate transcendental ragu at La Taverna, a few hundred feet away. It was splendid.

  • Liked — Friendliness, cleanliness, hors d'oeuvres they made
  • Disliked — There were no down sides to this accommodation
