“A lovely, luxurious break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

We spent 3 days here during a weeklong road trip in Tuscany. It was definitely a highlight. Gorgeous scenery, lots of nooks and crannies to explore, and beautifully maintained hotel and grounds. The outdoor, heated pool was a treat for the kids in November. We stayed in a connecting suite and single room combination that easily accommodated the whole family with two lovely big bathrooms with standing showers (in the main manor house). We hiked in the vineyards around the hotel and enjoyed a glass of very good San Felice red with the piano player in the bar area. A great hot and cold buffet breakfast, but the dinner menu is overpriced and though the food is presented beautifully, the technique and ingredients do not live up to the visual promise. Better to eat in nearby Siena and have after dinner wine and cheese back at the hotel. The staff was discreet and friendly, and whoever is responsible for maintaining the gorgeous pathways and gardens does a beautiful job. Don't miss the herb garden tucked away.

“The Perfect Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

We stayed here for 4 nights between stays in Florence and Rome with the crowds, churches, artwork and history. It was a perfect respite, beautiful, professional and friendly staff in a little village of its own.

“Charming hotel beautiful surroundings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

I have been several times to Borgo San Felice, it is a very old small village made up of various buildings and transformed into a charming relais. It is immaculately kept with attentive and discreet service and not overpriced for the quality you get.
It is ideally located to explore the Chianti area and Siena.
The restaurant is slightly dissappointing, not much variety, particularly of local traditional dishes and a bit overpriced.
Las t visit we stayed in a large suite with two cots in the living room for the kids.
I also had a great massage.
I definitely recommend it.

“better impossible”

We spent two nights at Borgo San Felice as part of our time in Tuscany. The hotel is unique and ideally located for exploring all the countryside villages in Tuscany and also Siena. As a compliment to our honeymoon we had an upgrade on our room and a bottle of champagne. The complex was an old village and now everything is part of the hotel. They have their own vineyard and wine tasting sessions. The food was very tasteful and the afternoons by the swimming pool were great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We would like to thank all of them for our wonderful time. We will return to San Felice for sure.

“Good and bad depending on what you are looking for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Hotel Grounds - 9/10
Staff - 5/10
Wine - 9/10
Resturant Food - 7/10
Resturant Service - 10/10
Room - 6/10 (because of bad mattress)

This was a great place save a few items, here are my comments.

1. If you are staying there very long plan on looking for other dining options because you are literally in the middle of nowhere. The choices at the resturant are limited and not for everyone.
2. Don't go over the weekend (esp sunday) as everything is closed.
3. Sienna is close, Montepulciano is a snooze
4. The wine shop person was overly snobby and not at all helpful. I know a decent amount about wine and he was just rude. It really impacted my overall impression of the hotel. Additionally after purchasing a $50 bottle we were told we couldnt sit outside and drink it in the patio area. When we asked why we were told "it's not possible"
5. You better have something planned for every day or you will be bored to tears as there is truly nothing going on here.
6. Massages are highly overpriced
7. They need new mattresses and pillows period

Dear Sirs,
we would like to thank you very much for your comments.
We were sorry to learn of your concerns with your recent stay and at the outset would like to offer my sincere apologies for the disappointment you have expressed.
It is true that Borgo San Felice is in the middle of the Chianti Classico region, by the beauty of the country side. However the first village (Castelnuovo Berardenga) is not very far from here and, over there, you can find a good range of restaurants, bars and activities.
During the weekend many loco shops are closed, but Siena is good prepared to welcome tourists, and the many shops with international and loco labels are open 7/7.
The fast way to Montepulciano allows you to reach it in about 50 minutes....if you wish to visit the Val D'Orcia area, passing by Montalcino first or Pienza, the way starts to be longer (50 minutes from San Felice to Montalcino and 30 minutes more to Montepulciano, for example).
We would like to offer my sincere apologies for the disappointment you have expressed regarding the service you received by our wine shop. Whilst we can assure you that any neglect experienced on this occasion would have been as a result of thoughtlessness rather than intent, you have my assurances that the issues raised have been addressed to prevent a similar reoccurrence in the future.
Concerning the prices of our treatments by the beauty centre, we invite you to check one time the listing of other hotel of the area which proposes the same kind of massages. You will be happy to read the our tarifs are equal and sometimes less than our concurrence.
One very last think about the pillows and mattresses, we inform you that we could propose a different range: sometimes happens that our guest asks for a soft's one and we are ready to help thier needs offering different solutions available.

In closing, may I thank you, once again, for taking the time to write. We will always welcome the opportunity to be of service.
