“Florio Park Hotel”

Spend one night before the early morning flyght. Get the room in 5 minites and run to the sea. The beach is with sand but there were waves and wind so the sea was dirty. Anyway the site for spend a night before the flyght is perfect - 8 km to the airport and the beach. Also the hotel has a pool but I prefer the sea. Room was old, old furniture, there is a tv, but I watched F1 into the bar area. At the dinner they had a buffet but with the price of 30 euros. In the evening I ordered the taxi at the reception and asked it to be with credit card payable. In the morning there was a car, but with cash payment. The man on the reception didn`t know anything, so the bankomat machine in the hotel didn`t work. So cash I found at the airport and I think next time I never will come to this bad service hotel

“Better than nothing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2009

We stayed one night at this hotel because we had an early flight the next morning.

The hotel isn't too bad, would need an overhaul. The first room we had came with a view of a wall. We were able to change it for a room with a balcony and a partial view of the sea. The room is of a good size, clean and with a nice clean bathroom.

The reception staff is very cold, arrogant and unpleasant.

For supper, we were required to purchase a ticket in advance of supper at reception. I think the reason they do this is that otherwise customers would walk out when they saw what was offered. It was a buffet, we were not told in advance that it was a buffet. There was very little choice. They fill two trays with the same food to make the choice look larger. The food was tasteless and certainly not traditional Sicilian food. Unfortunately, there wasn't much around the hotel to eat at so we didn't have much of a choice. The dining room was very noisy. Filled with buses of tourists as a stopover on a tour. Overall the supper is way over priced.

The pool is very nice. There is also a beach not far away but it didn't look too nice.

The airport is fairly close although you have to take the motorway to get there (2 exits away). Nevertheless, a road from the hotel leads you directly to the motorway and the directions from that point are simple enough.

Breakfast is included with the room but it is served only as of 7:30 AM. This is nuch too late considering many people stay here because they have an early flight. It's handy for the hotel, they offer free breakfast but they put too late for most people to take advantage of it.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you are staying for only one night. Do not stay here for a vacation of several days.

“Probably the best hotel in Terresini - Outstanding value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2009

I've been to Terresini 3 times now. We found hotel Florio by accident. Initially we booked Hotel Azzolini and walked out with disgust even though they had us on a no cancellation contract we let them keep the money. We were delighted to find this Hotel Florio just 200 meters further along the road.

It seems a lot of thought has been put in to guest comfort at this hotel.
Hotel Florio is in a gated complex which is important to keep unwanted guests away such as dogs that howl all night long. The rooms are situated sufficiently away from the road to minimise any disturbance from street noise. The hallway's to the rooms are thickly carpeted to cancel noise. The bed is lush. The rooms are clean and modern.
A good night's sleep can be expected.

The complex has a host of features starting with it's useful little store to shop for essentials, a Wellness Center (that I didn't get to actually see on my particular stay), large swimming pool, tennis, crazy golf... and the list goes on. They have an animation team (entertainers) to amuse families all day long. The bar has a nice large selection of drinks.

The hotel is located about 2 km from the town center. So you can ramble into the center or pay about €15 in a taxi. Remember taxis are always very expensive in Italy. While you are literally a couple of hundred meters to the Airport property, to take you to the airport the taxi must drive a long way around the perimeter to the entrance which will cost about €35. Plane spotters will love sitting by the pool watching the occasional jet fly off into the distance.

For a mere €72 per night we got a double room and breakfast. As far as hotel breakfast buffets go this was middle of the road, I've seen better and I've seen a lot worse. For the included price I'm not complaining.

Dinner was a no-go for us and perhaps the only real disappointment about this hotel. To me it was an overpriced buffet (€25) with a poor selection. The consolation is that you can eat lots if you want, but we didn't want any at all. I can get a freshly cooked 4 course meal in an Irish hotel for this money, and Ireland is not a cheap place to eat. Until they address this problem you can go into the town square and soak up the Italian athmosphere in a small restaurant for about the same price, which is why I love to go to Terresini anyway. Alternatively look out for the small restaurant behind the tennis courts. They have Pizza from €3.50! It's just a 2 minute stroll around the fence. There is also another on the corner but that's far more expensive and we didn't think it was any better.

If you don't like lounging at the large pool with glorious views then you have access to an impeccable private beach. The hotel is on high land / cliff face so there is a climb down. However once the venture is made the setting is perfect and comfortable, just don't forget anything.

Look out for there 2 or 3 night 1 or 2 person Wellness Offers that might be hard to find online since usually only the cheapest offer is displayed.

We will be going back for those soon, an all expensis paid spa treatment break.

Enjoy!

“soulless runway side resort”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2009

We stayed here because of it's proximity to the punta raisi airport--the occasional plane scuds right across the breakers--on our last night in sicily. The town itself is a sort of lower middle class getaway for Palermo. However, there was no town to speak of in which to find a decent meal. The resort is behind a big wall and has an automatic gate protecting it (from what you might ask)--to get in to the resort I had to punch a call box and the gate grinded open. There is a long winding drive through anodyne buildings of unknown purpose. The resort proper is about 1/2 km down the road. Big reception hall, concreted terraces, and more rows of 2 story hotel rooms. The rooms have the feel of a mid range airport motel in a 2nd city. The resort has a big pool again, bounded by a large concrete terrace and the whole complex sits on a low bluff over the sea. However, there is no apparent access to the sea. Once can see people frolicking on a working class beach below, though. Dinner was a fixed price buffet, very expensive and very tasteless for what you get--but it did reward in volume. There was a first confirmation party going on in the sea view dining room and we and a fair number of people that seemed to be vacationing there (I cannot imagine spending my vacation there--it offers nothing but heat and the whiff of kerosene from the adjacent runway) sat a far piece from the sea-on a concrete terrace. Another odd aspect of the hotel is that there is a "Team Karibe" present--which appeared to me to be a set of activity leaders and greeters, "tummlers" in the parlance of the Catskill resort--they more or less skulked about during our 14 hours there, but did form a greeting line as we entered the dinner hall.

“"funny" kinky”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2009

We stayed at the hotel one night, and booked it by accident on booking.com
On booking.com they claim to be 2,3 km from the airport, well 35€ is more or less the price in a cab, so it is certainlly not true.

the pool is nice, the view from the poll area plesant, the saftff around the poll was kind and helpfull, BUT the food, the rooms etc. there is better hotels at the same rate. we paid 109€ for adouble with a baby cos and "breakfast".
we thought aboiutb eating there to make life easier with our 18 minth old daughter, but they had only a buffet, and the food on display was a disgrace - you can get so good food in Italy, so why mesh it up so badly?
However there is place just outside the hotelæ called the Pirate, stunningly ok to the price, I can only reccomend thios place highly.
The breakfast was was bad real bad, worse was the attitude from the waiters, for 35 min no on came to hel or serve us, the cleaned tabæes 2-3 m from us. however we managed to look up some plates and cup's knife spoons etc., and made some coffee ourselves, almost like monty phyton he he, at leat we could laught since we knew we would leave the hotel already at 10:00 - but who in the name of god gave that place 4 starts, it maut have been for the entertainingly bad service, and strange clientèle.
