“Stunning views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2010

This hotel is a very nice resort. It lies outside of Lixouri, but the hotel has a shuttle bus who brings you there.
The hotel has two large pools, one facing the sea, and one waterpark for children (and large children like us!). By every pool there's bar - service where you can get your drinks.
The restaurant is very large and buisy. But there is nice quiet sittinggroups towards the sunset - we loved this sittinggroups!
The room was in the 1th floor, with a very steep hill towards it. I can see that it could be difficult with babystrollers here, but older children loved this hotel. The food is great, and there is a very nice animationteam here. They do not only entertain the children, but even the adult's in the pool.. this is the hotel with the best animationteam we have ever experienced! We would love to go back - Kefalonia is a very beautiful island and Kefalonia garden village is a very nice hotel!

“Exactly as described in the previous reviews”

The hotel is exactly as described in the previous reviews.Take a look at the pros and cons:
-a parking area does simply not exist,so you will have to fight with the other drivers in order to get a parking space, which means that during your stay you are bound within the hotel's borders.
-the food would perfectly suit a military diet.
-you will have to face an uphill struggle to get to your room, especially if that is in the fourth, fifth or the sixth(!!) level.
+the rooms were very spacious
+the rooms were being cleaned daily,so they were in perfect condition
+great beach

P.S.If you decide to go to GVHK do not be fooled by the receptionist and take your car at the higher levels,as you will face a nightmare!!Our car is a family Mercedes Benz and was,at the turn, balancing at its three wheels.Numerous drivers faced the same difficulty as well...

“poor service - many facilities "out of order"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

Waterpark : not operating !!!
Basketball/tennis fields : not operating !!!
"Panorama" roof garden bar : not operating !!!
Elevator : out of order !!!
Credit cards : not accepted by the reception !!!
Staff : unpolite

The was nothing to do for kids & young teenagers except from swimming to the pool and watching TV in the main bar salon. No sports activities, no pool table, no nothing. We concider ourselves lucky to be staying at the 2nd level. NOT suitable for elder people or handicaps. Also NO SECURITY during the night.
DO I NEED TO SAY MORE ABOUT THIS HOTEL????

As a travel agent, I would NEVER recommend this hotel to my clients.......

“Not as Bad as reviews”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2008

Neal of Norwich, England

We stayed as a group of four staying in two apartments on level 5. Yes the hill is a climb but there are stairs up as an alternative, my group were all in their 50's plus and we could manage the two climbs a day ok. The rooms were good and the views across the bay were worth the climb.
The food is a bit repetative but it was adequate and there was plenty. it was just a bit of a shock that there was no cups or cutlery in our rooms but a microwave and a kettle. Perhaps they could make this one of their improvements, also there were no drinks supplied in the rooms, tea, coffee, soft drinks or water. We have been all inclusive in the carribean and have always been supplied with bottled water and soft drinks and cans of beer, the last we went to even had optics in the rooms.
The complex is out of the way so a car is recommended to visit the rest of the Island, compared to other Greek Islands the roads are brilliant we had no problems for the seven days we had the car.
Overall the complex was good and we enjoyed our stay here, it was excellent value compared to trying to stay at self catering complexes on the Island of a similar standard where you would have to buy meals out. This is no longer cheap in Greece, this gave you the option of eating out on a few occasions without breaking the bank.
Overall we all enjoyed our stay, some people are very hard to please and as with other reviews i have read on this site for Hotels we have stayed at i think people like to moan for the sake of it. Look at the rviews overall not individual ones

“Wasp Garden Village”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2008

people found this review helpful

My Family and I stayed from 21/08/2008 to 04/09/2008
Wasps, Wasps, Wasps, but we wasnt sting. Plus we only found out just before we left. (good old Hotel Review), lesson learned.

Upon arrival.
This went fine, and we got a lift up to our room, which was only 269, we consider our selve's to be very lucky, as it really is a steep hill.

Room.
Very nice, clean, air con was fine, sky in both rooms, though our remote didn't work, and the only english speaking program was BBC World News, but hey, your on Holiday, so not a problem.

Food.
This we feel was a bit same old after a few night's. One night they had Mussel's or Rabbit for meat choice. My partner doesn't like Shell Fish, and the thought of eating Bright Eye's made her soul turn cold.

Water Park.
This was very good, and fun. I went down all the water slides, and have never dared before. (I'm 46, and not a good swimmer). Our 10yr old had a great time there too. The only thing was the walk up to the water park. It's passed all the other appartments, but well worth the trip. There's a bar there too so Happy Days.

Entertainment.
We think it was good for the Holiday, after all it's never going to be Caberet is it ?? They tried hard, and worked well together.
I even got involved with some games, which is unlike me, but made people laugh, and at the end of the day are you ever going to see them again ??

Trip.
We did one, it's the Sun Cruise. Very good, but a bit expensive. Also we missed the 5.30pm ferry, and was left to make our own way back to the Hotel, after catching the 6pm one, (10 Euro's extra for a Taxi). I tried to get our money back, but was told basically "Tuff".

Beach.
It was quiet, but the Bar had only soft drinks, so not for the one's who want to drink there money back in Alchol.

The walk to Luxori.
We was told of the 50 minute walk, and thought we would try it late in the afternoon. It starts off ok, but after a while you start to come across some obsticle's, so be warned. We got there safe, but a bit worse for were.

Summary.
As a whole, we think we had a good holiday, as for recommendation, no i'm sorry to say. It would not take alot of money to put in a cable car that runs on a rail of some sort. It's supposed to be a Holiday, not a fitness, training week, and the thought of going there armed with Trainers, and a Fly Swat, scare's me to death.
