stopped here for two weeks in October 2011, very relaxing place, a little remote, meaning a taxi or bus (when they are running) to Lixouri, but it you just want a pool side relaxing holiday this is the place. All inclusive food and drink was very good, although as always the food is a bit repetitive by the second week. Friendly staff.

This place is simply paradise on earth - for some. Its off the beaten track and will cost you 10 euro each way in taxi fare. Its more for the older person as there are no nightclubs around and its not for the immoble as there are a lot of steps as nothing is on level ground. HOWEVER what it does provide is total relaxtion, a fantastic tasty wide variety of food. The staff cater for your every need and nothing is too much trouble. Always smiling.
One slight drawback is the hotel owns the beach and if you want sunbeds they will charge you for it. We went end of season so not a problem for us. Take plenty of books to read and sit back and enjoy.

have just returned from an all inclusive holiday at the cephalonia palace hotel. i suppose the hotel itself was not too bad really, but to say it's all inclusive is a joke when you have to pay for bottled water and also the sunbeds on the beach. The first weeks food was quite good, but when the brits started to go home for the kids to go back to school, more europeans came in and the food deteriorated quite a bit. Another problem was that there wasn't a courtesy bus laid on so you had to pay for a bus which only came to the hotel (out in the sticks) twice a day, or the alternative was a ten euro taxi fare one way. Definately would not return to this hotel.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a one week all inclusive stay at Cephalonia Palace and are puzzled by the poor reviews from some guests. The place was very clean, very friendly staff, the food was tasty and varied insofar as any all inclusive is and the drinks were free-flowing all day. The activities co-ordinator Christa was a lovely engaging person who even persuaded a sloth like me to join in the water polo. The hotel is a little isolated but that's what we wanted and taxis to Lixouri were not expensive. As we were leaving late on our final day it only cost 13 euro to keep a room beyond the normal checkout time.
Thomas Cook Holidays had our transfer arrangements via the ferry well organised although we need not have left on our final day quite as early as we did resulting in a fairly long wait at the airport. WARNING do not go through to Departures too early - it was packed to standing room only.
Cephalonia Palace is a great place for kicking back and recharging the batteries and we would be more than happy to visit again.
