“Very welcoming hotel for a quiet, relaxing stay”

We stayed at the Palatino for two weeks in September. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the management very friendly. We prefer somewhere quiet and this was the case here as it was the end of the season. The hotel has great views toward Argostoli being in an elevated position on the edge of Lixouri. Having said that it was only a short walk to the town centre where we found more than enough restaurants and bars for our needs. Our favourite places to eat were The Avli near The Summary Hotel, Zorba's near the Square, and Novita on the front. Also on the front was Maxim's which was particularly good for breakfast.
The Palatino is a good base to explore the Paliki Peninsula from and we hired a car from Lixouri Car Hire on the southern end of the harbourfront near the Coast Guard Station. There were many great beaches within 30 minutes drive and going further afield onto the main part of the island we found plenty of places of interest to visit. St. Gerasimos is a must as of course is the beutiful village of Assos where we spent a lovely afternoon by the harbour just having a long lunch and enjoying the view.
Our favourite beach was Petani where the swimming and snorkelling were top class. I snorkelled all the way round to the next beach, Eleni but still could not figure out how to drive to it! The beach taberna on Petani (the second one you come to) was excellent. Nice simple food and drink with good service and very reasonable prices.
All in all The Palatino was just right for us and we would definately go there again.

“Lovely hotel in a special town”

Stayed at the Palatino for one week following on from a week in Skala. The hotel is up an incline but unless you're carrying heavy bags, it shouldn't be beyond most people. It takes about 7-10 minutes to walk up from the port.

We stayed in one of the 6 'bungalows' which are very spacious with twin beds downstairs and 2 more beds on a mezzanine floor. The kitchen is well equipped with full sized fridge and 2 ringed cooker with mini oven. The bathroom is a decent size. Our only comment would be that the air con unit struggles to keep such a big area cool. There's a patio area and an olive grove between the bungalows and the pool (30m at most).

There's a big square pool and a small round children's pool. Ireni who runs the pool bar is a gem. Snacks and drinks are well priced. There are plenty of sunbeds but they are flat and don't lift up at the back. The pool area was never crowded and people rarely get out before 10.30 or 11.00am

We had B&B but breakfast is exactly the same every day - adequate though.

Lixouri is not really a 'resort'. Its a small town but caters well for tourists. There are plenty of bars and restaurants - the square is a good place to drink and the port area is lovely for an evening meal.

The ferry service from Argostoli is first rate - every 30 mins in the summer months. It costs 2.20Eu for foot passengers and 5Eu for a car.

Lixouri's not the most popular place on the island but the Brits we met all loved it, especially the Palatino, with most returning year after year and for many weeks at a time.

“Absolutely brilliant!!”

Just had a fantastic 2 weeks at the Palatino topped off by our friends wedding there, which was all sorted to perfection by Janni and all the staff.

It is full of all nationalitys as this hotel is not booked through any travel agents which is why it is so good. Plus from Lixouri you can visit some of the best beaches in Kefelonia and have them all to yourselves as this side of the Island is not so popular with the rank and file which i have to say is there loss!

“Great for couples/familys alike!”

My boyfriend and myself stayed here in the studios (self catering) for two weeks and I have to stay the hotel/studios are lovely! The hotel is set in lovely grounds up above the town with great views and its very peaceful. The employees and management were very helpful. My only moan was that in our studio we only had a change of bed linen once in the whole time we were there and the floors were never swept or moped! But this didnt ruin our enjoyment!

The self catering facilities were second to none and in the town there were a few supermarkets selling more than just your basic food so we had a few nights in with some great home cooked meals!

When we arrived for the first week there were only a few people by the pool (which has a great pool bar!) going into the second there started to be an infux of people! I've been told that going into July it starts to get very busy so I think we picked our best time to go!

We would highly recommend the Palatino....the ferry ride over to Lixouri definately makes your holiday seem more like an adventure! We met some great people whilst over there - one drunken night sticks in mind and will do for a long time! - and I wouldn't hesitate to go back again!

“what a peaceful place”

What a lovely hotel so relaxed and pleasurable. The owners of the hotel are so helpful but if you want to be left on your own you can. When we were there on one day there was only 5 people around the swimming pool. The hotel is within a lovely 5 minute stroll to the harbour where you can eat as you watch the Ionian Sea gently lap the shore. Lixouri is lovely and quiet, if you want to you can catch the ferry which will take you across the bay to Agostoli where there is a little more to do but if you want to just relak and chill this is the place to visit and the Hotel just make the holiday even better
