“A place to really relax”

We stayed for 2 weeks in September and thoroughly recommend this hotel. The staff are simply fantastic and the hotel is spotless. The buffet breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Lovely pool area, particularly as there was so few guests, at times we had it to ourselves. Great location, just 5 minutes walk to the harbour front square and the restaurants and bars. Our favourite restaurant by a mile was Zorbas - just off the square, although Novitas and Oasis were excellent. We hired a car from Lixouri Car hire and travelled around the island. loved Lourdas beach, also Myrtos and a little beach we found outside of Fiscardo. Recommend Assos, a lovely spot and Fiscardo, were we ate lunch by the harbour. St Gerasimos was worth a trip as was the nearby winery. All in all a beautiful island and the holiday was made by this excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Nice views from front facing rooms. Rear rooms have views of olive grove & pool.

“No wonder couples go back here, year after year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

My wife and I stayed here for a week in early July. We had booked on the recommendation a friend, who has stayed here, every year for the past 15 years. No wonder. The hotel, whilst only 2* is immaculate. The rooms are cleaned every day. The surrounds are kept spotlessly clean, including the very nice sized pool. Yianni and his staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. The pool side bar offers food of high quality and at very reasonable prices, even cheaper than some of the nice greek restaurants down in Lixuori.

It is a typical Greek resort, full of charm. Don't let any other English tourists, try to put you off the place, as an English couple tried to tell us back at Argistoli Airport. If you are looking for a relaxed week or more away, without the hustle and bustle of too many tourists, then this is definitely the place to go.

“The owners of this hotel go out of their way to be so helpful,”

We spent a week here in May, with one other couple booked in for most of the week. Yianni, and everyone else made us so welcome, and could not do enough for us. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the grounds around the swimming pool are superb, with a lovely poolside bar. Just remember this is a 2 star hotel, and offers really excellent value for money.

The hotel is at the top of a small hill, which is about 8 to 10 minutes walk from the square of Lixouri, where all the bars/restaurants are. The closest restaurant 'Avli', was definitely the best and a typical greekTaverna. It was also really reasonable.

Room Tip: Back of hotel for afternoon sunshine

“Very welcoming hotel for a quiet, relaxing stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2009

We stayed at the Palatino for two weeks in September. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the management very friendly. We prefer somewhere quiet and this was the case here as it was the end of the season. The hotel has great views toward Argostoli being in an elevated position on the edge of Lixouri. Having said that it was only a short walk to the town centre where we found more than enough restaurants and bars for our needs. Our favourite places to eat were The Avli near The Summary Hotel, Zorba's near the Square, and Novita on the front. Also on the front was Maxim's which was particularly good for breakfast.
The Palatino is a good base to explore the Paliki Peninsula from and we hired a car from Lixouri Car Hire on the southern end of the harbourfront near the Coast Guard Station. There were many great beaches within 30 minutes drive and going further afield onto the main part of the island we found plenty of places of interest to visit. St. Gerasimos is a must as of course is the beutiful village of Assos where we spent a lovely afternoon by the harbour just having a long lunch and enjoying the view.
Our favourite beach was Petani where the swimming and snorkelling were top class. I snorkelled all the way round to the next beach, Eleni but still could not figure out how to drive to it! The beach taberna on Petani (the second one you come to) was excellent. Nice simple food and drink with good service and very reasonable prices.
All in all The Palatino was just right for us and we would definately go there again.
