We arrived at our destination to find ourselves in a white winter Wonderland. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts, the Familie Marold, and shown to our cabin in the woods, a short and picturesque walk from the main guest house. We were impressed to discover that the cabin had been constructed only 3 years ago with environmentally friendly building materials, and the doors from our bedroom opened up onto the snow covered forest. This was truly the magical winter getaway that we had dreamed about. I had requested a room without television not to ruin the peaceful holiday that I wanted, but was told that there was a room with a television available if I changed my mind. Continuing along the same environmentally friendly principle which governs the running of the hotel we were then directed to a buffet style dinner of a range of foods, all 100% organic. My husband is usually a little suspicious of organic food as this often means bland food with little taste but we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of delicious foods that were on offer. After dinner we were treated to a concert by another member of the familie Marold, Hartmut, an expert Celloist, which was both inspiring and relaxing in our woodland location.
Our following days continued as they had started and all in all, I can only praise and recommend this wonderful hotel/getaway that we found. And by the way, for any other technomanics out there who are terrified by the thought of being cut off from their computers for too long, there is also free wifi available throughout the main guest house. This was a refreshing change from many of the hotels we had previously visited in Europe which expected us to pay high rates for this basic privilege. Thankyou Spoektal and Familie Marold!
