Just retunred from a two week trip to Europe where every day was a new town with a new hotel. My goal was to keep expenses down in the hotel area since it was just a place to catch a few hours of sleep and a shower. Well, the plan worked until I checked into the Bonsai Colmar in Houssen, France.
I reserved a triple room for two people and when we walked in the two of us with our luggage barely fit in. That wasn't the worst of it - the combination toilet/shower was disgusting. I've been on cruise ships and they make that combo work, this did not. You could sit on the toilet and be taking a shower at the same time, there was no place to hang anything so the towel and any clothes you had completely got wet. But the worst part was the bathroom smelled like urine and you were showering in there! The entire room was no bigger than a closet. They did have the sense not to put the sink in there, that was in another corner of the room.
Yes, the room only cost $50.00 (US dollars) so I should have been a little leary, but the other rooms I'd booked cost about the same. I checked out reviews on the hotel and most of them said a basic no-frill hotel but good for one night. Well, this place is not even good for one night. I couldn't wait to get out of there!
