On reading most reviews I got the idea this resort would be average, just a place to spend the night while making the most of the beach. But I was mistaken. Sure, the resort is old. But we can see they have made many improvements. Our room was great. On the ground floor, with a sea view, as most rooms are. We could hear the waves at night. We had a great, firm mattress and a LCD TV in our room with cable. The room was very clean and they made up our bed with clean sheets everyday (although I thought that was unnecessary). The gardens were also kept impeccable. At night dinner was also great. With a wide variety of meat and fish dishes. Every other night they would make fresh baked pizza and bring it round to the tables. On our last night they had a "rodizio" of grilled meats which was delicious. The breakfast buffet was also good.
And then of course the beach... which is really marvelous. Kids can play safely and even take a dip at will. The waters are calm and warm and full of fish that come to your hand expecting to be fed. There were plenty of sun beds and shade. We had lunch on the beach everyday day.
And yes, the entertainment staff is young but the kids seemed thrilled. They were always asking us to participate but we would rather just lay in the sun. It got me thinking how hard it is to get any activity going when eveyrone would just rather get off the hook.
I really enjoyed my stay.
