“Just Perfect!!!!”

Myself and my partner stayed for 2nights in this lovely hotel after a very busy and hectic festive season. We spent much time trying to find where we wanted to stay, maybe too much time, as we did not get round to booking until literally the day before, but chose this hotel because of the repeatedly good reports across many reviewing sites.
We had asked for a four poster room with a view of the sea and golf course, and we definitely got all that, and more!!!!
Our room was very beautiful, extremely spacious with an extra step leading to a lovely seating area, with 2 settees and a beautiful terraced window.
Although it was a little cold on the outset, the receptionist promptly arrived with an extra heater, which made all the difference.
We decided to eat in the dining room the first night and chose from the A la Carte menu, which had a great selection. Being a fussy vegetarian, I always worry that the choice may be limited somewhat, but the young server and chef was extremely accommodating and tweaked the dishes in order to give me exactly what I asked for...
We ate our meal and drank our champagne at leisure, not once during our meal,or entire stay did we feel pressured or like we were holding people back, the staff were SO pleasant and seemed genuinely happy to help us, Again the young girl (originally from st.andrews we learned), was nothing more than a pleasure to converse with, making us feel relaxed and at home...so much so that we ordered another bottle of the afore mentioned Champagne!!
Next morning we received our breakfast in bed, (which we had ordered the night before) from 2 very pleasant servers, and we simply could not fault it...the poached eggs were to die for, the pre-empted tomato sauce perfect, and every single thing we had ordered was there.Top marks!!!!
We spent the afternoon, walking off our sore heads and full bellies in the very beautiful Lundin Links and Lower Largo which was simply breathtaking!..Even though it was the beginning of January and about 2 degrees, the sky was blue and the sun shining.Perfect!
We did not dine in the hotel that night, nor did we manage to surface in time the next day for breakfast, even checking out a little past the allotted time, but yet again, we were greeted with warm smiles and enquiries as to how we had enjoyed our stay.
We truly had a lovely break at the Old Manor Hotel, so a big thank you to all the staff, we definitely intend returning!!!

Room Tip: Ask for room 8, its the biggest!!!

“Perfect relaxing escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Spent a weekend in this lovely, relaxing hotel. We were fortunate enough to have a room overlooking the golf course and sea complete with balcony. The bathroom was a little dated but all was warm and beautifully clean with plenty of fluffy towels, tea and coffee. They even provided a tea pot when asked. Dined in the restaurant - also overlooking the sea, with a choice of bistro or restaurant menu. We dined from the former and found our choices over both nights to be excellent. The staff on both evenings were delightful. Welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. Retired to the lovely lounge and comfy armchairs next to the open fire. We spent our time pottering around in St Andrews (approx 12 miles away) then exploring the East Neuk villages - Crail, Anstruther etc. Just a delightful and relaxing escape. What made it really special was the staff who dealt with us at all times with a smile and a willingness to help. This is how an escape should be!

Room Tip: Sea views - lovely.

“We would come again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

First of all we stayed at this hotel at a very attractive tariff from laterooms.com. It was standard double room. See their website for details. As a result it was fantastic value, so I thought I would add some extra cost onto the bill-hypothetically-and then review assuming that basis.

It was a Sunday evening and the hotel was practically empty.

The welcome at reception was friendly, the very warm room had lovely sea views, was of reasonable size, not that large but more then adequate. Facilities within the room were good.

Our, (optional), evening meal was, I would say, was a 7/10 standard. The service was good and obliging but only 4 tables occupied so not really tested. One order had the wrong vegetables, but this was quickly rectified with a brand new plate. My fish cake starter was warm at best.Vegetables a little tired. Meat very tender. There were two menus on offer one at £15-95 and the other at £24-95p both for a three course meal. A two course meal can also be taken for £12-95 and £19-95p.

Choice very limited to one draught beer and one draught larger from the smallish bar.

After a good night's sleep with a very soft mattress, we got a wake-up call at 7 am instead of 8 am. which was inconvenient as we had driven some way the day before and needed some extra sleep,

The breakfast was very good with a big helping of porridge and a cooked breakfast. Unlimited coffee and tea Not a massive variety of fruits, but ample cereal and the dining room had warmed up from the night before.

The tables are well arranged, so diners have ample space from the next table.

There was ample parking at this hotel and it is located around 20-25 minutes drive from St Andrews. There is a golf course adjoining, so very handy for people who love that sport..

If I were paying full price for the room we occupied I would perhaps hesitate, as this hotel was not top drawer, but at the price we paid then we would revisit without a moment's hesitation

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view.

“One of the best meals I have ever had!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

My parents where visiting from Argyll and stayed in this hotel. I drove down from St Andrews and wasn't sure what this hotel was like... The food is honestly one of the best I have ever tasted. We dined in the a la carte restaurant, I had the pate with oatcakes to start, and the belly pork for main course. Honestly one of the best ever! The service was excellent and a nice atmosphere.

“New Years Day lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I'd just like to say what a pleasant experience we had at the Old Manor for lunch on New Years day. We were a party of 8 including children and the staff/chef could not have been more accommodating. The hotel offered a hot carvery in the Seaview restaurant. The views over the golf course out to the Forth were fantastic as was our lunch. Not being a huge fan of carvery type food I was delighted that they also offered other options such as curry, steak pie etc.
Afterwards we retreated for coffee and drinks to the recently refurbished lounge where we again received great service and were able to relax for a while.
Well done the Old Manor...will definitely be back!

Thank you for your kind comments, we had a lovely busy day on New Years Day (a great start to the year!) - we have received lots of positive feedback regarding the carvery, and intend making this a feature of Sunday Lunch in the Seaview Restaurant very soon - it wil be very much a "family" theme, and we hope to build up a loyal following for this over a period of time. I hope you will have time to return again if passing! Regards. Alistiar Saddler
