“Great atmosphere and food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

After changing hands several years ago, this village pub next to my old school, has come on by leaps and bounds and now ranks as our first choice venue for delicious food and a lively atmosphere for a weekend evening out. I have been twice in the last ten days and been most impressed by the variety on the menu, the attentive service, the high quality of the cooking, the excellent wine list and a certain friendly buzz from the staff and other guests. We'll definitely be back for more and probably very soon!

“Just as great a year on from previous trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Another great overnight stay at Wheelwrights about a year since my last visit. Room was marvellous, huge bathroom. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast. If you stay on a Tuesday night make sure you swot up in advance for the very enjoyable but taxing quiz night! Made to feel very welcome and highly recommend.

“Fantastic room and wonderful food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night recently while having a couple of days out of London. It was a recommendation from a friend and I will happily share this recommendation with anyone else traveling that way.

The rooms are really spacious and the bathroom was particularly big. The bed was so comfortable we found it hard to get out of! We had dinner in the pub attached - the food was absolutely perfect and accompanied by a fantastic bottle of wine. Breakfast was included - the choice was great and it was a fantastic start to the day.

Really great value for money and highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 1. an executive double which was perfect... however we hear that room 7 is the bes...

“Excellent Sunday Lunch . . .”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Third visit for Sunday lunch (and one previous department Christmas lunch) and again first class.
We booked the day before and glad we had as it was very busy. Pea and ham soup was comforting and robust and my beef was well portioned (if slightly too well done for my taste) with a lovely Yorkshire pudding, the roast potatoes were a little soggy though. The setting is lovely, big open fire and typical country gastropub (it may have been a pub once, but not any more), its not far out of Bath with plenty of parking.
My partner and I enjoyed it . . .and will return.

“Lovely 85th birthday celebrations.”

Booked three rooms for my mother's 85th birthday celebrations. Weekend involved shopping in Bath and experiencing the excellent Christmas market. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Big bathrooms but lack of shower not an issue. Good and willing room service. Great spread for breakfast - lots of choice. Restaurant busy and popular. Food choice and quality good. The website has clear and unambiguous photographs. Very quiet location. Overall very enjoyable but lack of a seating area for residents and the small bar area could be seen as a drawback for a longer stay. Wouls stay again if in the area. Happy to recommend.
