After staying 3 nights at Grand Hotel des Bains in Lavey-les-Bains (an 8 on a scale of 10), Hotel Thermalps was a 1 or 2. We booked a one bedroom but it was the size of a tiny corridor...the width of the bedroom was barely bigger than the width of one single bed so the 2 beds were put one behind the other and it felt like a dormitory...at chf 361 a night! Living room and kitchen are plain with cheap furniture, although the balcony was spacious and pleasant (but too cold to use in April). The promoter of this place has been way too ambitious: there are way too many apartments for the size of the themral baths facilities, which are nothing impressive. There are 4 apartment buildings connected to each other. We had to walk long corridors and take 3 elevators to get to the main lobby and bahts facilities. This said, service was good and the restaurant fair, with an extensive menu (good waffles sold all day long in the lobby). Seen it, done it and will not return again.

We went there for one nigh with our two year old mainly to enjoy the thermal baths. We booked a two bedroom appartment. Old fashioned furniture, ugly decoration, dirty carpets and run down kitchenette and bathrooms... Guests were smoking everywhere, including corridors of hotel. My bathrobe smelled of smoke.. yuk! We were told to use plastic slippers to go to the thermal baths for higiene reasons. But everybody would put these slippers in the rooms and before getting to the thermal baths you would have had to cross corridors, use lifts, go through the bar and cross the reception area... Hygiene?? The hotel is completely overpriced. We had to pay 6 CHF per towel in the Thermal Baths. Dinner was incredibly expensive: 26 CHF for a small plate with a few slices of dried meat !!!?? Service was poor. I wanted to get some food for our son at 18:15 and they told me that the kitchen does not open until 18:30. Probably the worst swiss hotel I have ever been.
