“Typical clean Travelodge with nice room, long way out of Madrid but walkable from station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

You can book Las Rozas for as little as 10 Euros a night during the sales perods, i paid 20 but a few weeks later i saw the same day for 10 Euros. The hotel is well outside Madrid, but near a Renfe Circanias station. I would recommend arriving during daylight if you come on foot, like i did. It is only 8 minutes walk from Las Matas station, and the ticket from the airport to Las Matas is 2.30 Euros. So take the exit from the station on the AutoVia - Motorway side and there is a metal footbridge right in front of the exit. When you walk over the bridge you can see the Travelodge if you look to your left. It is fairly straightforward to get to the hotel after crossing the foot bridge, just walk parallel to the motorway along the side of the slip roads, You can enter the rear of the Travelodge carpark, the gate shoud be open. A tiny bit tricky to get there on foot but not much.
Checkin was OK, the non spanish guy could have been a little more friendlier, or so it seemed after my walk in the dark from the station along side of sliproads.
The room was standard Travelodge, great bed, large size room, but there is NO coffee , tea etc. There is a restaurant, i arrived at 10:30 pm, so i could onlz take what was on offer, a pizza, which was served well, and was tasty. There is a cheap menu del dia if you arrive earlier. You get shampoo, liquid soap in sachets. No problems whatsoever !
Whether it is worth the long journey from centre of Madrid ? Well that depends on if you like to save money and like a little bit more luxury and willing to travel 20 minutes out of centre of Madrid. My conclusion was it was worth it , to pay 10 or 20 Euros for a large comfortable room in MAdrid is great price.
I did not take the breakfast, it was expensive for me. I did not hear any noise from the AutoVia, maybe my room was on the other side, it was peaceful.
I love Travelodges, me !

Room Tip: Well the obvious , away from AutoVia side

“There Must be better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2010

Noisy - on a main road - so far from the CBD that it's not on the tourist map.

A 8 minute brisk walk to shops/restaurants/metro.

Interior walls fail to suppress loud TV from adjoining rooms thus requiring contact with reception.

Breakfast at E7.50 is a rip-off there being no alternative within walking range,

Only suitable to those with their own transport.

“Good value, but you really need a car”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 April 2010

I have stayed at this Travelodge twice in the last two years. As other reviews suggest, this is not the place if you are hoping to pop in and out of your room whilst taking in the sights, let alone the nightlife, of Madrid. Whilst there are bus and rail options they are not convenient or efficient - this place is a good 20km from the city centre, and miles away from any metro station.

The hotel itself is perfectly acceptable modern three star accommodation, at one or two star prices (I paid €45 a night). There is a small restaurant and bar beside reception, but there seemed to be no customers except for breakfast. Internet access in the lobby at €12 an hour (by credit card only) seemed a little severe.

Now that those slightly negative comments are out of the way, this place is a PERFECT base for those with a car. You can hire a car for a week from Madrid Airport for around €100 a week. From the airport it's a straighforward drive around the M40 ring road, then follow the A6 (direction A Coruna) for a few miles to Junction 24. This trip only takes 20-30 mins, although I would avoid peak traffic times. The hotel is within an hour of wonderful towns north of Madrid such as Avila, Segovia and Manzanares, and it is also easy to follow the ring roads around to Toledo and Aranjuez to the South (both within 60-90 mins drive).

To access Madrid itself I recommend following the A6 into town then follow signs to the University district in North Madrid and take the metro from there. There was plenty of parking in this area when I visited but this might not be the case during weekdays in term time.

“Friendly, clean, secure, use the nearby bus service not the trains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2010

The staff were exceptionally helpful. The room was well cleaned, the bathroom was pleasant. The hotel is quite new. True it is out of town, hence it's cheap compared with Madrid central. The walk to the trains is as described and is ok during the day. However ask the staff about the buses, the bus stop is a few minutes walk away on a nearby street by a good well-stocked supermarket. The hotel supplied me with a very good map and showed me where to get the buses back. It is quite near a large retail outlet with a variety of restaurants too. As a solo lady traveller I felt safe there. But beware of rogue taxi drivers taking you back to the 'wrong' hotel and trying to charge double for the detour!

“Good hotel and a great price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2008

Was there with 6 people and we booked 2 rooms: a double and a familiar (which is a double with an extra bed and a sofa). The hotel seems to be recent and everything looks like new. The lobby has a nice looking as well. Personnel are friendly and helpful. We asked for a contact of a restaurant nearby and the girl at the reception offered herself to book a table for us. Both rooms were spacious, clean and nice. I was particulary impressed with space of the familiar room which accomodated 3 adults and 1 child - paid 55,00 € for this room!!! The bathrooms are simple but functional. The hotel has also a parking which is free and has enough space for 30/40 cars. The breakfast is not included within the room price (7,50 € per adult). Is based on a buffet with a reasonable variety of cold and hot meals (eg. eggs, bacon, sausages, different hams, cheese, different breads, juices, fruits, etc.). For us this hotel was perfect as were passing by Madrid and stayed for just one night. It's a bit far from the centre of Madrid but we were'n visiting Madrid this time so the even the location was perfect. It is perfect for those who go to work nearby or passing by Madrid. I was at Las Rozas several times in the past and if i knew this hotel would definitely stayed there. Recommended.
